This is a discussion on New to Enneagram Theory, What's My Type within the What's my Enneagram type? forums, part of the Enneagram Personality Theory Forum category; I know I am a 4, but what does 4w3 or 4w7 mean?...

    New to Enneagram Theory, What's My Type

    I know I am a 4,

    but what does 4w3 or 4w7 mean?

    You can't be a 4w7 - your wing must be directly adjacent to your type, so you, as a Four, can be a 4w5 or 4w3. What this means is that you have a preference for one over the other. Wings synthesize parts of the type into your core type, which is you as a Four. If you look in the Four sub-section, there are descriptions of the wings. Don't use a test to determine your wing, though. The scoring method is usually very unreliable.
