    9w8 or 9w1?

I'm trying to figure out if I am a 9w8 or a 9w1. I read both the descriptions and I related to the 9w8 alot. Especially the part about the agressiveness and assertiveness, that of having inner strength and willpower and being very passionate.

But I agreed with 9w1 about not letting things go, and holding resentments, unlike the 9w8. I don';t know, it';s hard to tell because I don't use it much.

I would prefer to have no conflict, but if conflict arises I will not back down or shy away from it. i can be pretty controntational too. And when I am mad, I go into hulk mode haha. I hit walls, cuss like a sailor, throw things, shove things off the desk or table, sometimes even scream FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

What are your thoughts guys? Any information or insights are greatly appreciated.

Ohhh, and also, this is for my gut fix, I allready know the rest. Thanks in advance!

I'm no genius with this enneagram stuff, but I've been figuring out mine. I'm a 9w8 as my core type. This is what I'm almost sure of.

    I tentatively am sitting on 9w8, 7w6, 3w2 so/sx.

I don't hold onto resentments at all ... I'm easygoing. I don't really hold onto any sort of feeling for long, except happy, peace, good feelings. It's hard to make me mad, but if you push the right buttons for long enough, I erupt.

But, I'm not somebody who does anything physical; I concentrate on my words. I might accidentally break things, though. Maybe I'll be trying to please the other person to maintain balance, and something breakable will be in my hands. It's inevitable that I lose my grip and things break.

When conflict happens, I will only back down if there's too much friction. I can maintain my peace, as long as there's outward balance. I will push buttons, and see how far I can go, but I'll back off if there's anger or hurt, and re-evaluate, try to fix it. I can see the possibilities of what may cause friction, but I don't always follow it, for fascination and a love of learning can be stronger at times, and I kind of hope that there won't be any problems. Sometimes I'm lucky.

When mad, I've been like a banshee/harpy, at my very worst. I haven't lost control like that in a long time, though.

@KindOfBlue06, keep in mind it's just your gut fix and this makes it hard to tell, especially considering that you also have a 7 fix. In my opinion, you have an 8 wing somewhere, but I can't tell if it's a 7 or 9 wing or even both! That's up to you to decipher.

Not sure which descriptions you found, but here's one from Ocean Moonshine.

Nines with a One wing tend to be more cerebral and imaginative than those with an Eight wing. They typically withdraw under stress more than those with an Eight wing. They sometimes find it difficult to ground themselves. They tend to lose focus and can get lost in worlds of their imagination. Nines with an Eight wing are overall more grounded and assertive. They tend also to be more sociable than those with a One wing. Nines with a One wing are more theoretical; those with an Eight wing more practical.
I also recommend Typewatch but be prepared for a long read. =P

Those are also coming from your Type 3 core.

9 is also my gut fix and I have an extremely hard time distinguishing between 9w1 and 9w8 for myself.

Ultimately I settled on the 9w1 because I'm more ... hmmm ... ethereal in my desire for peace. I have more perfectionist qualities than I am aggressive ... I prefer to mediate a sense of harmony through passive diplomacy and competence, in the sense that I work silently towards getting people to get along as opposed to using any kind of anger or aggression.

That said -- I can be driven to anger very quickly as well and be moved into action, but I'm driven to anger for different reasons and not for maintaining a sense of peace.

Your aggressiveness and assertiveness, as well as your passion, like @Jawz said, can very much come from your core, but also from the fact that you're an Sx-dom.

That said, I don't see a 9w1 gut fix. 9w8 is amoral, so I don't see that in you as well, especially as a Fi user. I was thinking more a 1w9 gut fix. Tell me more about what makes you angry.

The fact that you're driven to anger very quickly isn't indicative of a 9w1 gut fix at all, the same can be said about the fact that it's not for the purpose of maintaining inner peace. The perfectionist qualities when you're aggressive are more One ish actually..

@kaleidoscope Hmmm what makies me angry? Shit not going my way. Like having a good day, then get a speeding ticket FUCK! Or having big plans for the weekend, then everything falls through, or Having expectations then coming up short. I get more pissed at myself though in that scenario. Also, people trying to assert their authority or dominance over me. That pisses me off, as well as arrogant people who demand respect because they think they are king shit in this world. And bullies or people who try to belittle people. I've gotten into so many fights with people like that.

Ohhh, and also people doubt me or tell me how to live my life, people who think they know what's good for me. That really sets me off. I know what's best for me and it's my life, so they can fuck right off with that nonsense!

What makes you think I have a 1 fix?

    @KindOfBlue06

To be honest, because of your Fi ^^ The E1 is a perfectionist, gets aggressive whenever they see something "wrong" or "unjust" going on. Ones are very controlled in their anger though, they don't fly off the handle, they tend to be harsh and critical. That's me, I have a 1 gut fix. But now that you stated your reasons, I'm not so sure anymore.. I'm kinda considering a 8w9 gut fix. Would you describe your anger as moral?

@kaleidoscope I guess it can be kind of moral, in a sense, although I don't usually view it that way. I'm not on a crusade or anything but certain things set me off. Let me give you a few examples.

I am at a gas station looking at magazines, and some dickhead walks by and shoves me into the rack. I say in a harsh tone "excuse you." He says to me"you're the one who bumped into me." I tell him"watch where the fuck you're going asshole." I am ready to swing on him but his three friends come in and just post up, and I know it will be a 4 on 1 fight and none of my friends will throw down so I glare at him and walk out furious.

I am driving and some guy cuts me off and speeds up past me. Later I am next to him at a red light, and we kind of look at each other like it's on motherfucker! The light turns green and we both speed up, kind of racing with each other. The next red light I get behind him and he starts backing his car up to fuck with me. So I start inching mine forward to show I'm not intimidated. The light turns green and he sits there so I flip him off and lay on the horn. He finally moves and I roll down my window to yell obscentities at him.

I am at a resutraunt and my freind mistakes another guy for a waiter. The guy gets angry and tells him to go fuck himself. I tell the guy my friend made an honest mistake and to apologize to him for saying that. He comes up to me and tries to choke me out, but I swing on him and then the manager comes and breaks it up before it escelates. I am so in rage mode the manager has to ask me to let go of his hand when I shake it because I am gripping it so hard.

Basically I don't view it as moral, just standing up for myself and my friends when someone fucks with me.

As for the perfectionist thing, I am slowly trying to overcome that but it really fuckes with me because failure, and change are not something I handle well. Change especially.

You sound like you have a 8w9 gut fix.. I'm not sure though, I'll ask @Boss's opinion cause she's much more knowledgeable than I am in this stuff. But you're DEFINITELY not a 9w1. Definitely definitely not hahaha.
