    9s that are (I)NT(P)s?

I think my bf is definitely a 9w1, and he says that he is definitely an INTP.
I thougt for long that he can't be an NT because I associated a lot of traits from 9s
with what I though to be the ISFP-personality (not knowing much about the enneagramm). But
after having read something more in depth about the 9s, I think what I have experienced
as very "untypical" behaviour of an INTP can be perfectly explained with him being a 9...
so...I'd just like to know if there are any (I)NT(P)s who are 9s and who have had similar experiences (being more social than other INTs or being more unassertive than other NTs etc.)?
I'd really be thankful for any kind of insight.......

Nines, like Sixes, are chameleons. Any MBTI type can be any Enneatype (despite what some sites may claim, there is no clear and reliable correlation between the two systems because they both measure very different things), but it rings even truer for Nines and Sixes. There are some definite Nines at INTPc, and I myself am a phobic Six with a very strong connection to Nine. I have to balance extreme introversion with the fear of being alone or separated, a strong desire to reach the truth despite the means with a strong desire to keep quiet for peace (safety), plunging headfirst into problems with retreating to my happy place where none exist, and idealism with cynical skepticism (among many other things). It makes me look really contradictory (and at times very hypocritical) to others, because I'm both to a very large degree.

So yes, again, it is entirely possible for an INTP to be either a Six or a Nine. Along with that, each type commands each of the eight functions to varying degrees... That being the case, I'm not really certain that I agree too strongly with the concept of untypical INTP behavior. Let's say I agree, but don't see it as bad at all. Moving away from the very rigid description of the INTP can and should be seen as growth. No one is or was ever meant to be a pure type.

    Type 9w1

I've been creating an analysis about the relationship between MBTI and the enneagram using data from the members of PersonalityCafe. At the time of my records, there were 8 INTP 9s. So they certainly exist

The mix-up may be coming from your connotation of the word social. Many people confuse social with being sociable. Social is more general adjective that can mean relating to society. Since being part of, belonging, etc is the basic core value of SJs, even the most introverted SJ feels a need to belong, ergo are social in nature. INTPs having Si as their third function can also find a need to be social. Sociable on the other hand means being gregarious and friendly.

Also, in her book, The Enneagram Made Easy: Discover the 9 Types of People”Renee Baron correlates E9s with IXXP, so it’s natural for some ITPs to be nines and may mistype as E5s. As R&H states, “So many Nines mistakenly think that they are Fives; typically, the misidentification almost never happens the other way around. Particularly if they are well educated and intelligent, average male Nines tend to think that they are Fives.”
