you're right, but you can still subjectively compare your main type to your wing.
for instance, if you feel 3X more 7 than 8, you would be 75% 7 and 25% 8 for all intents and purposes of this conversation

- desire to be independent and autonomous
- desire to make your own decisions
- a boost of assertiveness to the more escapist tendencies of 7

People have said that variant stacking has as much of an impact on you as your E type. Maybe it makes you have 8ish thoughts more often to make you different than other 7's in this regard. Most 7's I know have a lot of SO variant, good SX, not much of a SP and they all seem very unlike an 8.

Edit: as similar as we may be though, the differences between us are all too obvious once you look a little deeper. comparing 7 and 8 is a lot like comparing flight and fight. 7 is like the flight instinct, if there is something scary, unpleasant or dangerous, we run. if an 8s sees an obstacle, they try to kill it

Ok, I attribute those things to being an ENFP and not to being an eight. :P And doesn't everyone want to be independent? I've never met someone that was like "ohhh I wanna be codependent the rest of my life!"
