You know? I have been thinking about putting a similar disclaimer to what @Chipps has in her signature. I also forget letters and whole words, especially on my phone. I try to catch them, but that clearly fails at times. Dx

I also want to put something about being tongue-in-cheek/formal sounding. I know I seem uptight at times, but I am not. English is simply my first language and I have always had a passion for words. This means I enjoy writing prim and proper at times. That and I do generally appreciate the rational, straightforward approach when attemtping to ellicit information, but I guess I saw you as being too blunt. That may be my bad, being fairly sensitive.

    @Rim

I think the whole dislike of boredom and stagnation might have more to do with having Ne as your main funtion or second depending on whether you are an INFP or ENFP. I know that once I know everything I can about something, I want to move on to other things. So, I research all kinds of things to pass the time because I like to be in a constant state of collecting new information. Ive heard that NFPs tend to move on once something has been mastered.

I think this makes Enfps more likely to be 6w7, but 6w5 is still possible based on motivations, fears, desires etc. For example, I am a withdraw person and I dont really like people but I am technically an extrovert so I will engage them in order to fill that extroversion need. When Im talking to people, i can come off friendly but Im remaining 100% detached from the situation. I ask alot of questions and tell a lot of stories, but I dont divulge anything about myself and I can learn everything about you. So i engage the external world to collect information to process in my inside world. I'd imagine a 6w7 would be attempting to stave off negative feelings and have a good time when around others. I do it as a means of data collection. Like I said I like to constantly be learning.

Good god, I don't check PerC for a few days and suddenly EVERYONE posts on the thread.

Okay, in reading all of the posts that shave off all of the surface w5/w7 stuff and try to get to the core, I think I sound a bit more like w5.

There seems to be a huge emphasis on the w5 independent research decision-making, and w7 reliance on others blah blah blah. So, whenever I have to make a big decision, I start doing my research. Most of the time this research does involve other people though, which I think is what's tripping up the w5/w7 conclusion.

At first I'll analyze the decision in my head to help weigh it out and formulate questions so for my final decision I know everything I need to know and can weigh it out completely. Usually this process happens in my journal so I can have it all down and make sure I'm not missing anything important. Then I'll set out to have those questions answered, and as I said a lot of times that includes other people - for example, when I was having a hard time choosing my sophomore classes I had to ask other students who taught this class, is that class hard, etc. I'll also do the straight-up "What do you think" to authority figures - usually it's two particular people whose judgement I trust because they're very rational, and sometimes I'll ask one or two more people if they have a lot of experience with my topic.

But even though I rely on people a lot, I've noticed that I'm using their reasons to help me make my decision, rather than just going with their overall opinion because they said it's this way so whatevz. Kind of like when I'm trying to decide if an item's worth buying on Amazon; I'll read all of the reviews, see what they said about the item and if this makes sense or if that would be a problem, etc.

So after I have everything I need, it's back to the journal to filter everything I've come up with and make my decision once I'm in a clear-minded state. Because even though the process I described sounded pretty rational, this is under a bunch of OMGZ I DUNNO WHAT TO DO SOMEONE HALP ASDFGHJK. Basically the research and support is outside-oriented while the actual decision making is withdrawn.

I like how Boss included the phobic/counter-phobic influence as well, because that reminded me that sometimes I'm pretty much grounded in my decision, but I want to make sure my reasoning doesn't have any flaws so I ask a couple of authority figures. And when they disagree with that grounded decision I'll bring up my reasoning so they're like, "Well, you seem to have decided already. :P"

And when @Rim helpfully brought up the Freudian theory I decided I'm more ego (5) than id (7), if that counts for anything.

tl;dr - I think I'm a 6w5 but I want to make sure I have my facts rights and my reasoning is sound.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the avalanche of new posts - though painful to read through it was very helpful! XD

@Tsuki, you sound like me except I don't really write things down... Only because I think too much and writing things down feels like I'm repeating myself xD

I think you're a 6w7 with weaker wings. Take it or leave it.

    I don't know anymore. XD

And I suppose @Boss and @mushr00m Thanking you means they agree?

Seeking anothers opinion is pretty relative to w7 and if its a regular thing as stated then you are w7. I also do a lot of research by myself and that includes collecting opinions and information related from another as I consider that to be useful, straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Im not sure about w7's necessarily being reliant on others opinions though in a strict sense anyway, I tend to see it as another avenue though in order to get the information we want.

So as long as it heavily involves other people, that's still w7?

Like you said, it is really useful and I think it's just the easiest way to do it. But to my understanding now, a w5 would like manage themselves independently anyway?
