    The positive side of Cp6/C6

I wanted to create a thread that shows the positive side of 6's. Although some of the descriptions reveal much of the negative, Cp6/C6 can be very productive, creative/stable and accomplished in their everyday lives.

What have you accomplished in life so far ? I feel i've come a long way the past 10 years, i don't feel as though my inner fears have stopped me from being a go getter. I found a man who loves every part of my being, is very accepting of the good/bad/ugly. I have a job i love that is rewarding, i feel very much accomplished at the end of the day. I don't let fear control my life, i turn negative things into something positive. I'm quite stubborn with things i want to achieve, i step out of my comfort zone and push through like a bull in a china shop.

Talking about fear and anxiety is a good way to vent, although as a 6 i don't feel that negative force in my everyday life. I have so much to be thankful for, so i try and let that be the the driving force for all things positive. I think its important to create a balance, and since we're responsible for our own actions and behaviours, only we can make that happen for ourselves. Staying in a place that is surrounded by negative thoughts isn't a healthy way to live, so i say bulldoze through that, create a life that is stable, acceptable and positive. Face fear and anxiety when it seeps in, don't let it control you or allow it to be everything you are.

As a counter phobic 6 myself, I would agree. It is easy to malign the behaviour but, the bottom line is lots of people will rely on a cp6 in their lifetime. I'm the person who stands up for people being bullied or who defend and guide those who need it. Attacking fear itself is neither a good nor bad thing, it simply is.

I have several advanced degrees, interesting hobbies, and warm social connections. My 6 energy leads to preparedness so I can often provide just what someone needs when they don't have it themselves. I tend to be thoughtful in dealing with others, and even though my 7 wing leads to some rambunctious carefree stuff at times, I'd say overall I really think through my choices. Makes me an interesting mix of responsible and reckless, lol.

When I get into a counter-phobic state, I fight for the underdog and say what others wish they could say. I think my CP6 side makes me have an endearingly snarky sense of humor. When I'm neither particularly phobic nor counterphobic, I have a childlike enthusiasm and positivity that tends to uplift the realists around me. I don't know if this is a 6 trait exactly but I tend to match others in their mood, state, vocal volume and am very tuned into nonverbal communication. This means I can ramp up my sparkly side with my extroverted friends, and be more subdued when I'm with my introverted friends one-on-one.

I'm curious , why does your Enneagram show 9 and not 6 ?....and yes agreed, i also have a childlike enthusiasm with lots of positive outlooks, although i contribute that mostly to my MBTI. Having a 6 core can be contradicting to an ENFP, because i'm naturally enthusiastic about most things. It feels like a nice balance with 6w5 thou, kind of like the best of both worlds. Adapting to the moods of others is important, making them feel comfortable in your presence like ENFP do, is also natural for an ESFP. heh, so much of this post can be related with MBTI, the correlation between how you function and behave. This is refreshing for me to read because Enng isn't the only part of who we are, just like MBTI. The mixture is amazing, and the more i relate myself with a 6 ENFP, the more i like it. It's nice to see that you're accomplished and not stuck in a state of fear :)

It shows as e9 because that's what I thought was my core until I did more digging recently. I think I'm really a 6w7, and just didn't realize the depth of anxiety under my choices. I have a strong escapist bent, and am majorly afraid of negative emotion and pain (e7 fear), and while it can all be confusing trying to sort MBTI type traits from enneagram, I think I found something that fits.

I agree it is cool to see how the different personality systems interplay, and it gives you lots of fuel for understanding (self and others). I'm sure as an ENFP you likely love that about it :)

There is no positive/negative ranking stuff about E type, they said.
What I say is that in psy health care (outside psychosis like problem) there is I would say more than 50 % six (Ive been admitted in 4 different structure for various stuff).
Type who suffer the most in life are probably 4, 6, perhaps 5,9 and 1. The only stuff is that 6 is the only one who suffer for no reason or no greatness behind compared to these other type, lol.

We suffer because we care. Apathy is easy.

    Care about what?

    @MuChApArAdOx
    - strong awareness of danger
    - more aware of the consequences of their actions than most other types (though often cp6s will often ignore this in a "man, I just don't care anymore!" sort of style)
    - usually have brilliant, quick minds
    - tend to be prepared for the worst outcome
    - usually have 1 or 2 contingencies/alternate plans if something goes wrong
    - often loyal, supportive friends/companions (though it's a myth that this is a defining feature. some 6s are conniving mother fuckers)
    - strong powers of intuition (though they often don't trust it)
    - aware of the darker side of life (especially when compared to a member of the positive outlook triad, ie, 2, 7 and 9)
    - skeptical. rarely take things at face value. unlikely to get conned easily
    - the mind of a 6 is a scary, intense place. once they can deal with this, most find dealing with the rest of the world a piece of cake in comparison

caring about things that are unimportant is a weakness, not a strength
