A month ago, I would have answered Coke. Now, none of the above. I have stopped drinking Coke forever, because I heard you can clean toilets with it. If a toilet can be cleaned because of Coke...I don't really want to know what happens to my digestive system.

The coke I had in Europe seemed to taste better than in the US, and I believe that was due to it having sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup.

Diet soda I find absolutely awful. What I've heard about aspartame doesn't help.

In any case I've given up soda. I used to drink it everyday but have only had it a handful of times over the last two years.

Yeah, I have seen it clean up old coins. I often don't recall that when I crack open a can or bottle, but that is a great refresher to not drink the stuff. Even more worrying than its effect on your digestive system is the effect on your teeth.

According to my marketing textbook, Diet Coke and Coke Zero are the same except for the name (and I think one ingredient). Coke Zero = Diet Coke without the scary word "diet" to appeal to the male demographic

I prefer Diet Coke or Coke Zero over Coke to avoid the caffeine intake, though I rarely drink anything but water.

    Diet pepsi > diet coke.

But I prefer the diets because I actually like the taste better.

Coke Zero or if not available - Diet Coke, though I prefer Pepsi Max/Diet Pepsi over these if the price is the same, otherwise the cheaper. As I drink a lot when I'm in warm countries it would be deadly to drink the regular with all that sugar/corn syrup.
One time in Macau they were phasing out Coke Light and introducing Diet Coke (or was it the other way around?) and selling the phased out product a lot cheaper so that was what I drank during my stay there.
As for those highly critical of artificial sweetener - I'm guessing most of them are feelers that feel that it's very bad for you.

Yeah, I live in Sweden and our Coke contains sugar. I didn't know American Coke didn't until I read this thread.

Anyhow I prefer regular coke as I don't mind the sugar, also I don't drink it all that often so I might as well have the real deal.

All the negative side effects from Diet Coke and Coke Zero is not worth it. If you must then drink Regular Coke but even more so if you can get that "old school" style Pop. I know Pepsi does it periodically where they will release how they used to make Soda, you know with that stuff called.... what was it again.... oh yeah, SUGAR.

I'm a big diet coke drinker. Thoughts, is it unhealthy, probably, and I'm trying it in moderation with milk, smoothies, juice, but it is everywhere and it's hard to get away from it, even when I do feel moralistic about what goes in me.

My personal philosophy on this topic is to go with diet products rather than eat more sugar. For whatever reason, Americans are getting heavier, and adding calories to sweeten pop is a considerable intake. I once had a situation where I rode a bicycle to work and back, and I was getting tons of exercise. My weight was coming down, as was blood pressure. Sleep was easy to come by, and I had all kinds of energy. Yes, this was well past 40. I need to get back into that groove. Additional calories when you are not burning them off is likely as bad as artificial sweeteners, especially over the long haul.
