ok you purists are probably gonna hate me but if you like skrillex - no one has mentioned knife party the australian electro/dubstep band they sounds awesome, similar to skrillex. this songs is sick
main bit of the song starts at 1:43
Dubstep sucks ever since people tried to make it the new metal making it hard as hell. I don't even call that dubstep I call it brostep. Though the new liquid variant of dubstep is cool but brostep sucks. Dubstep was best when it was like reggae with a huge sub bass. I'm not a purist its just that aside from maybe Skrillex and a handful of others shit all sounds the same. Needs to die

Another genre mashup. Love it.
Liked dubstep when I first heard it, but it just got old and kind of predictable.
Full track here.
Not as cool though.
iNexus.
That's some heavy, albeit wicked stuff he's got going there.

Can someone explain the difference of dubstep and "brostep" ? Can't get a straightforward answer.
Brostep is a sub genre of dubstep. It also is known by the terms hard dubstep, heavy dubstep, dirty dubstep, etc. Skillex, Flux Pavilion, Nero, Datsik, etc exemplify the subgenre. It's the popular stuff right now. It's called brostep because bros like it.
Dubstep is the original sound that was created in the UK. It sounds very similar to dub which is a subgenre of reggae so it can sound reggaeish. Dubstep is actually a fusion genre between dub, grime, an 2-step garage. It has a deep laid back feel unlike brostep. Artists such as Digital Mystikz, Coki, Skream, and Benga (diary of an Afro warrior) exemplify the genre.
