    The Inventive ENTp

    Extroverted Intuition, Introverted Logic

Note the following description may not fit perfectly, however based on your test result, it is still your recommended personality type.

ENTps are methodically very abstract and thought driven, constantly seeking the pure potentialities of the unseen. They naturally see the big picture as others see it, while actively comparing their own beliefs without bias and consideration to their own personal belief. It is not uncommon for an ENTp to think is his mind 'A man believes this, another believes that ... I see the potentialities of them both, so what is the real deal?' Often an ENTp may logically qualify these abstractions to make personal solutions to problems, though they actively avoid solving logical problems the same as others do. Since they avoid deriving known conclusions, their ideas maintain a unique and personal originality that other may not have considered. ENTps have little loyalty to personal belief and tend abandon old inferior beliefs for newer ones with better potentialities.

Since they are creative and pensive people, ENTps can not function well in environments that demand their attention to strict schedules or have heavy expectations placed upon them. Structured environments frustrate them and routine demotivates them, causing them to break down from the stress and pressure. However, ENTps function well in environments by which they have been given a 'creative license' to move freely and to exercise their abilities to rationalize, appearing to procrastinate until the last moment to finish tasks. An ENTp does the best work in an unstructured free environment with few prohibitions or restrictions.

ENTps can have little understanding of the limits of public, personal, and private space, and can irritate others with the way they habitually manage common everyday matters. They can have limited ability to comprehend the amount of time to complete task, and can be generally irresponsible or late on occasion. They can also be very messy, and have a hard time taking care of themselves. They can become so distracted with every day matters, that they lose track of their health. An ENTp may appear to be in a hurry when he or she is not.

The ENTp gets along most favorably (especially long term) with The Peaceful ISFp.

    The Rational ENTj
    Extroverted Logic, Introverted Intuition

Note the following description may not fit perfectly, however based on your test result, it is still your recommended personality type.

What's coming up next is a sentence that could most accurately summarize the ENTj's mindset. Enthusiastic and optimistic about the future, the ENTj wants to be the one who's at the forefront of advancement. Possessing a peculiar combination of idealism and pragmatism in his personality, the ENTj is a person who wants to make his dreams come true.

The ENTj is a very rational person. He lives with an internal set of principles. These are not arbitrary or merely accepted from conventional wisdom. Rather, they stem from a critical examination of any available empirical evidence at disposal. The ENTj thrives for objectivity. He wants to know the 'Right' answer to everything. For this reason, he is particularly fond of measures and tests because they enable him to objectify reality, helping him to make correct decisions and accurate predictions. The ENTj thinks like a scientist, only accepting things if they have been put to an objective test. If you need to make an objective decision about anything, ask an ENTj.

The ENTj has a gut feeling about what lies behind appearances. He has also got a good intuition about the future. These two characteristics enable him to be often ahead of others, since they help him in predicting events accurately. In order to do this, the ENTj makes intuitive hypotheses according to an existing theoretical model he has elaborated. These intuitions are then naturally put to the test of time. If the existing outcome is different than his prediction, then the ENTj will correct his model. The ENTj's Intuition thus serves his Thinking. Because of this he is rather impatient. Indeed, he is so eager about the future that he cannot seem to be able to let the present unfold normally.

The ENTj gets along most favorably (especially long term) with The Valiant ISFj.

    The Analytical INTj

    Introverted Logic, Extroverted Intuition

INTjs are intuitive free-thinkers who focus their minds on trends, connections, and explanations; on the why and how things are the way they are, and how and why people behave the way they do. They use such analyses not only for the sake of theorizing as such – although they do enjoy theorizing for its own sake – but mainly with the aim of deciding what to do next; in other words, to establish their strategy. So INTjs are, essentially, analysts and strategists. This means that they look for, and usually find, connections and trends where most other people see none. Therefore they are often seen as visionary, bright, insightful – or, negatively, as paranoid and more concerned with their theories than with facts. The accusation of paranoia stems from their constant “contingency planning” – but it is only that they try to prepare themselves for what may go wrong, not that they necessarily believe that it will go wrong. As for facts vs theory, INTjs do tend to base their analyses and plan their strategies with insufficient facts sometimes – but they also constantly update them with new facts, although they may be extremely reluctant to abandon an already-established theory or strategy and may do so only after the case for that becomes too strong to be ignored.

That applies only to fields and situations where INTjs are confident of their own competence, and they usually are very aware of which areas they are competent in, and which they aren’t. It is extremely distressing for INTjs to have their competence doubted in a field where they know themselves to be competent – and even more distressing to have their competence proven lacking: few experiences are more humiliating for INTjs. They greatly value the same self-awareness in others; for them, the sin is not ignorance or incompetence as such – nobody can be knowledgeable and competent in everything – but the failure to acknowledge one’s own ignorance and incompetence. In INTjs’ eyes, people who pretend to know what they are talking about, when they clearly do not, lose all credibility, often forever.

I am almost sure that I am not an ENTP

  8. #8

Haha...well, I got ENFp at first. Then I changed the first question and got INFj.

  9. #9

    I got ENTp.

    I'm actually a socionics INTj.

The first question I had trouble with because none of the options quite fit:

You are someone with well-developed feelings and sentiments who is good at helping others adjust to people and social situations.

--I don't have a good sense of knowing how well developed my sentiments and feelings are. I'm not good at helping others adjust to people or social situations. I often struggle with it myself.

You are someone with a logical, systematic approach to life who is good at helping others rationally organize their activities and thoughts.

--Yes to the part about having a logical, systematic approach to life; no to the second half. I suppose I'd be okay at it if I tried but I just don't care.

You are someone with a high level of physical awareness who is good at helping others materialize their desires and wishes.

--Not me. I wish I was better at this sort of thing.

You are someone with a unique view or vision who is good at helping others imagine and experience an unexpected side of things.

--Yes to having a unique view or vision. I suppose I'm okay at helping others imagine and experience unexpected side of things but don't have a good basis for judging that.

So I was torn between deciding N and T. Can easily rule out S and F.

I found the second question far easier to answer. Definitely like the first option although the second option had some appeal as well.

    The Imaginative INFp

    Introverted Intuition, Extroverted Ethics

If the INFp had a theme song, it would go thusly:

    “I go – but where, o gods
since for his torment and my pleas
    Heaven offers no pity?

You who speak to my heart,
    Guide my steps, dear love;
    Ease that uncertainty,
    That urges me to doubt.”

    - LORENZO DA PONTE (1749-1838)

The INFp is perpetually caught within that “pondering repose of If” that Herman Melville wrote of in Moby-Dick. He is forever in doubt. He never truly feels at ease with the ways of this world, its people and its circumstances. It is not that he does not understand things – but that he doubts his own understanding. In fact, he is capable of an understanding on a far more visceral level than his peers are. He “feels” that he has understood something rather than “knows” that this is the case. True understanding for an INFp is forever linked with the word “revelation.” He will never claim to have deduced an understanding, but will instead say that the truth was “revealed” to him.

INFps are distinguished by their sense of humor. Their humor is spontaneous, cutely ironic, and oftentimes rather random. They may put on a faзade of being under the influence of any number of substances, and as a result may appear childish, out-of-touch, and spacey. This is actually a defense mechanism to distance themselves from a contrived existence. When acting like this, they are most likely thinking: “You people take yourselves way too seriously.” They may seem estranged from reality, but they in fact dwell on a far more significant plane in their own minds. Internally they understand full well the gritty undertones of life, but see the world within the context of an overarching, transcendent framework that liberates him from the trappings of the workaday world. They have their eyes on “bigger issues” at hand.

At their core, INFps cannot bear being disliked – they would rather die beloved than live despised. In social situations, they tend to take on the role of a pacifist – averting conflict, to the point of putting themselves in the middle of an argument. They rarely like taking sides unless they truly believe they are acting nobly. They want to be thought of as wise beyond their years (and they often are), sometimes taking on the role of a learned sage come down from the mountaintop after having spent fifty years observing the ways of his fellow men. They can become great at debate if the topic is one they care about, but will often turn to impressive and pensive rhetoric as opposed to solid factual evidence when making their case.

The INFp gets along most favorably (especially long term) with The Playful ESTp.

    ____________

I always get IEI/ INFp. I know that's closer to Jung's INFJ, but I don't think I'm an INFJ. Maybe an INFP with a good use of Ni...
