SJ's Temperament Forum- The Overseers Thread, A SJ's Views in Personality Type Forums; I was just curious to see just HOW similar SJs are to one another. So, i just have a few ...
Hi Gawdx. Thanks for the question, here are my answers :)
1) Music preference? - pretty much anything goes, as long as the tune is good, but I listen mostly to rnb, indie and pop. Sometimes classic if I want to relax.
2) Television preference - don't watch much TV, I'm more a film person, but I like documentaries, fly-on-the-wall one-offs, or health-mind-body programmes.
3) How do you handle failure - initally feel down but then I pick myself back up again and go forward - I don't see the point in dwelling on the problem, l look for solutions.
4) What are your views on love - I love Love, the secure trusting bonding type love. It has to be a mature love, not the needy suffocating type though.
5) how do you view religion - I'm not religious but I believe there is a God.
1) Music preference? Mostly pop, hip hop, and latin musics. I love music that is so attractive and fast pace that can make me dance energetically. I also love pop music that can give me calming/soothing effect.
2) Television preference? I don't like watching TV. I love movies, though. Good movies, not experimental weird movies.
3) How do you handle failure? I get angry with myself, over-analyze the failure process to find my mistakes, make notes about it, and then find the solution to fix things up as best as I can.
4) What are your views on love? For me, love is all about commitment, trust, loyalty, and compromise. I take romantic relationship very seriously and I don't like to be failed, because loving someone is a very very rare thing for me to do.
5) how do you view religion? I'm a muslim and I'm deeply attached to my religion, in a way that its values shaped me and becomes my identity. I'm not saying that I'm a conservative religious, because I'm still able to see many flaws in my religion. I believe there is no perfect religion. But I'm not looking for perfection. I'm looking for a way to get closer with my Owner, and I feel most comfortable to do it in a muslim way.
I was just curious to see just HOW similar SJs are to one another. So, i just have a few questions :) answer what you will.
1) Music preference? - I listen to a great variety of music. Rock, pop, piano music.
I'm not very much into modern music. 21st century music such as hip hop, dance, trance.
2) Television preference? - Dexter is the best show ever. I like it when series have continuous plots. I like: dark, serious, fantasy
I've never been much into comedies. I like them when I actually watch them, but they don't 'speak to me' or attract me.
3) How do you handle failure? - I try not to think about it.
4) What are your views on love? - Intimate and serious. I want a partner that I can have a relationship with. Anyone won't do, I must be able to imagine some future with the woman.
5) how do you view religion? - People must have something to explain the hardships of life. They want to know why and how and that they belong. So they turn to religion. I consider them sweet lies with some good values and ideas, but nevertheless, religions are created by man.
Just curious is all. Thank you.
I think we will see more similarities in structure than interests. Will be interesting to see the results
1) Music preference?
I am open minded to all music and like a bit of everything, i am loving classical at the moment.
2) Television preference?
I rarely watch the news. I watched Most amazing video's tonight. But i think it depends on the mood, sometimes it will be something like Miami Ink or the Discovery Channel, other times i am watching Project Runway.
3) How do you handle failure? Even if i didn't suceed at a particular task, i never failed as i learned something from it
I am also crazy in that i don't mind constructive criticism.
4) What are your views on love? Love is a work in progress, 2 people becoming interdependent with each other. I used to believe in fairy tales, these days i am more realistic.
5) how do you view religion? I have my views, others have theirs. I personally think religion is a form of control and corruption, just like most other things.

1) Music preference?
Back in High School I was a big metal head so I listened to a lot of loud, angry music. When I got into college I was into hard rock/general rock and roll, and since then I've slowly drifted across the spectrum toward a "softer" sound. I still listen to a lot of my old stuff but not nearly as much.
Since taking up ballroom dancing many months ago though I've gotten to the point to where if I can't dance to it, I won't really listen to it.

Don't really watch a lot of TV. The only show that I tune into regularly is "Legend of the Seeker" and that's only because I loved the Sword of Truth book series so I like watching the show (even if they have butchered the books). Otherwise, I prefer comedies or dramas, preferably courtroom dramas (I loooooooove Law & Order)

Externally, I will try to handle it with dignity and grace. Internally, I'm usually beating the ever loving hell out of myself for my failure and will probably spend a good amount of time raking myself over the coals. I'm an Ennegram 2w1 and that 1 wing does a good job instilling a sometimes unhealthy amount of perfectionism in me. I have a *very* strong desire to be thought of as useful and dependable to people and whenever I screw up, I feel like not just that I failed *myself*, but that I failed whoever I was trying to help as well that's worse for me than letting myself down.

I actually went into a more detailed answer as this question was asked on the ISFJ forum but the short answer: I think love is what happens after infatuation , when you and your SO have started mold onto each other.

I am an atheist (Secular Humanist to be more percise) but I don't really have anything against religion. When I first became an atheist many years ago I was very "anti-religion" but after dealing with many many religious people since then I've come to the conclusion that it's best to judge someone not on what religion they are but what type of person they are. As such I don't have anything against religion itself, just the jerks and shmucks that take it and use it to justify hurting people.
Sorry to be a grammar nazi, but your title is bugging me. It should be *an* SJ's view. Not *a* when you say "s" it comes out like "ess" with a vowel sound, making it necessary to put *an" not *a*. I'm an ISTJ and these kind of things bug me.
1) Music preference? I moslty like music for the musical quality, I guess. If I like how it sounds I'll listen to it. I find myself not really caring what the message is.
2) Television preference? I don't really watch too much TV. If I do, its either educational (think Discovery, History, Animal Planet, Military Channels) or has a sort of clever humor. I really enjoy The Colbert Report, Big Bang Theory, Psych and Doctor Who for TV shows.
3) How do you handle failure? I tryto find a way to not do it again. I hate messing up. I get upset with myself, because I know I can do better.
4) What are your views on love? I really want to believe that I have a "soulmate" out there somewhere. I have a odd sense of humor, and interests that are quite a bit different that most girls. I would really really like to find some one who understands me and accepts me for who I am. And yes, I do want to get married someday. It just has to be with the right guy.
5) how do you view religion? Most of the wars and loss of life have been caused by the world religions. I like the idea and messages behind the main religions, but I am not religious. I can't help but think that people who are "strong believers" are deluding themselves in some way. I have also been burned many times by people who claim that their religion is "very tolarant and accepting" so long as you believe the exact same thing they do and if you do not you shall burn in Hell. It makes me sad that people who do not know anything about me at all think they have the right co condem me for having a different view than them....
Very broad. I can appreciate songs in most genres. When I work mostly I'll listen to light classical or piano. I also enjoy contemporary stuff--r&b, hip-hop, etc.--and classic rock.
2) Television preference?
Don't watch much TV. My favorite show was Monk. I like Family Guy, SNL, and the History Channel. I am much more of a movie person.
3) How do you handle failure?
Depends on the nature of the thing failed at, but generally I'll beat myself up about it for a few hours, think critically/analyze the situation from anywhere between 2 hours-1 week, and move on. I rarely get noticeably upset and rarely hold grudges.
4) What are your views on love?
The soulmate thing is crock. Love is not a feeling--it is a decision a person makes and in a relationship it is a decision one has to make every day. Ultimate love is earnestly desiring for another happiness and doing what one can to that end.
5) how do you view religion?
I am Christian. I have great respect for other people with deeply-held religious beliefs, as long as they understand why they hold those beliefs and can defend at least the basic tenets in conversation. I am constantly thinking about and questioning my own religion (which I think is healthy regardless what one believes in) and am still Christian because nothing has convinced me to change. I find most Atheists I've met are weak ontological thinkers and believe Agnosticism/Deism are for wimps.
1) Music preference?
A variety. Occasionally, I would tune in to soft rock or somewhere along those lines.
2) Television preference?
I don't watch television. Nothing interesting is on these days anyway. I would rather spend my time doing something productive.
3) How do you handle failure?
Depends. What goes in my head is "what's done is done" and I can't do anything about what's already done except move on and prevent what's failed me in the future.
4) What are your views on love?
Love is as is. Love is a form of a commitment, joined by two people who should be willing to make that commitment and take it seriously for the rest of their lives. Anything other than that isn't a good reason or rather an excuse. Such as, cheating.
I don't tolerate such answers.
5) how do you view religion?
I'm an Atheist, so I don't have strong views on religion. People do as they please.
