    Assuming automatic incompatible orientations?

Let's say you like someone and it's not limited to a particular gender. Said person acts Androgenous, not really displaying masculine or feminine traits. How do you interpret and assess asking out said person, if wanting to?

Interactions with said person have occurred but no prying into past life or direct asking of said person orientation is ever asked.

Both genders typically respond well to being asked out... If s/he is interested you will know right after you ask them.

I actually think I'm the Androgenous one/non-pursuer. Though I might be over/wishful thinking this scenario

They you should ask them out! Or at least let them know you're interested.

Figuring out the preference of someone not overtly gay/totally androgynous comes down to if they flirt with me or not. If they don't flirt I presume they're straight, or have bad taste
