Are YOU a Psychopath?

This is a story about a girl.

While at the funeral of her own mother, she met a guy whom she did not know. She thought this guy was amazing, so much the dream guy that she was searching for that she fell in love with him immediately.

However, she never asked for his name or number and afterward could not find anyone who knew who he was.

A few days later the girl killed her own sister.



Question: Why did she kill her sister?

Answer: She reasoned that if the guy appeared at her mother's funeral, then he might appear another family funeral.

If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in this test and answered correctly.

My answer was incorrect. I thought that the sister hooked up with the guy so she killed her. lol

I guess I don't think like a killer, either. I was too disturbed by the story to even guess at an answer. Still, a non-psychopath who could think logically and impersonally should be able to guess at the answer, even if it is not an answer that the person would actually attempt to justify in real life. Therefore, I predict that most T types would be able to guess at the answer even without being psychopaths. Their ability to detach from the personal aspects of problem-solving would allow them to think like psychopaths without requiring them to actually be psychopaths in order to understand them. I have also heard of F types who could empathize with anyone, even with those who lack empathy. Some of those might be able to guess, too.

If ones gets the answer correctly, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are psychopaths. It just means they think or feel like a psychopath. Like you said, the answer can also be guessed so this test doesn't really prove anything. However, it has been proven to work when asked to a true psychopath.

Most of the people I know that took this test have also answered incorrectly.

this was pretty funny.

my answer was also completely wrong, but in a different way from the other people i've asked. i said she was so distraught by the death of her mother that she somehow killed her sister - but it was otherwise unrelated to the funeral, and was unrelated to the guy.

my (ISFP?) boyfriend's answer was, like ... "I don't f/king know!" and then "she was mad at her sister because she wouldn't give her the guy's number" ... to which i replied "how do you know?"

i was assuming it was some kind of lateral thinking puzzle - you know, like the midget who hanged himself by standing on an ice block. i'd guessed there would be more than one question.
