Yesterday I read this article Are smart people ugly? The Explainer's 2011 Question of the Year. and today I found myself attempting to see if there was any truth to the story while drivng around the microsoft campus. Everyone I saw appeared average looking. Next I browsed, some Nt photo threads and noticed more pretty women and handsome men than not. Who writes this shit?

It's because "smart" people who go around shoving their intelligence in everyones face usually aren't that smart. True intelligence requires that you know how to take advantage of a situation in every category possible, and that includes looks. Beauty can easily be gained through different techniques, whether it be confidence, make-up or style. If you look good you'll get the attention of anyone superficial and if someone's smart they won't be judging your looks, anyway. Of course, if you're smart enough to change how you look to move through the system, you're likely to have your intelligence discredited as you'll have learned to be humble. Thus, everything leads up to this article.

Many of the things I was going to point out have already been discussed [different perceptions of attractiveness/smart people may spend less time on their looks...]

The stereotype is often used by attractive/dumb people and ugly/smart people alike..trying to compensate for one undesirable trait by boosting up a more desirable one. I haven't seen anything that would indicate that there is any connection between the two.

This is pure nonsense. I can't find any legit logical explanation for it, thus it must be fiction.

My humble opinion is - being smart (FOR SOME PEOPLE) requires work (SOME PEOPLE HAVE IT NATURALLY). If you look good, and all the girls like you... Why bother with being intelligent? Thus, some beautiful people might not be smart as an option - there's just "no need to be smart".

But honestly, how does one judge beauty? Some people consider me ugly cuz I just roll outta bed in the mornings with minimal makeup and lazy clothing, but others think I'm beautiful because of my eyes and body shape. Not to mention, different cultures will find different things beautiful. This whole research sounds a bit subjective...
