    ENTP 9s

Is it possible for such creatures to exist or are they just a myth? If they do exist, what do they look like? Has anyone ever seen a specimen in the wild?

I started a similar thread in the ENTP forum a couple days back. Not much response.

Well then, to give an indication of what an E9 ENTP looks like:

    Its... complacent.

What makes you different than the Type 9s of other MBTI types?
    My love of debate.
My love of making others squirm (not in an unpleasant way, of course).
    My extroversion.
My ability to put on an air of faux ego and talk myself up.
    My love of change.
    My blunt ballsy-ness
    My easily obtained excitement.
The level of confidence I can project, real or otherwise.
My impulsiveness and action-seeking ways. Idea = do.
    I. Am. Incorrigible!

What makes you different than the rest of your MBTI type who aren't 9s?
The peace thing is pretty huge.
    Really huge actually.
I can also get very comfortable with 'what is'.
I'm out of touch with who I am except through other people's eyes, most ENTPs have a self-assured view of themselves.
And more of the peace thing.
I am uncomfortable with conflict so tread carefully in debate and back off if leading to conflict.
Compared to the average ENTP I am low energy and don't jump about with grand plans.
    I can be very unengaged.

    2. Do you feel that your MBTI type supports or contradicts your enneagram type? How does it do so?
    Contradicts.

I think the aspects that support can be more detrimental because they flow in the same direction, for instance both types can ignore reality, the 9 to maintain peace and the ENTP to follow what is most exciting.

While in the other side the shared positive traits don't add a great deal of benefit. ENTP and E9 tend to be non-judgemental and live and let live. And ENTPs can be optimistic because everything is in the future, 9s can be optimistic because they can't see the cloud for the silver lining. Once is enough!

I love action, but can do nothing happily.
I adore debate, but cannot stand conflict.
I'll let people do whatever they want, but I will not be dominated.
Status quo maintains the peace, but I crave constant change.

    3. Do you relate more strongly to your MBTI description or your enneagram description?
    Yeh.
    Nah.
    Whatever.

Both types can be conclusion avoidant.

ENTP is a great descriptor for saying what my core nature is. E9 is great for explaining the potential I have with growth and how I can deteriorate under extreme stress. IMO one without the other does not give a clear image as they are not complementary types.

    4. Do you think you could more easily relate to someone of your same enneagram type but different MBTI type or your same MBTI type but different enneagram type?
I would feel more comfortable with another 9.
I would feel more engaged about possibilities with another ENTP.
Neither is easier, just different, but there are a lot more stereotypes about ENTP about the place that I cannot relate to.
It is not a common combination, quite the opposite, but there are other ENTPs mulling about in the E9 forums @Quin Sabe and @Onomatopoeia to name a couple.

Imo (and as witnessed on forums) 9x out of 10 a declaration of this combination will be an indication of someone being mistyped and the label won't last long, however we are not silver unicorns, although we are pretty fucken special - it is a possible type.

There is a fair representations of ENTPs who claim 9w8 as their gut type in tritype theory, after their main type of head or heart, so I consider that an indication it's something that can be developed naturally with the ENTP personality, however I believe it takes a certain kind of stress as an ENTP child to push 9 into dominance, maybe feeling invisible or wanting to be invisible, to leave reality but not because of external conflict that forces a distinct fight or flight reaction as I expect 8 and 6 would be more likely there, but I don't know, there really aren't enough ENTP 9s out there for me to investigate that deeper for a pattern.

Are you questioning this for yourself @Mostly Harmless?

I am teal and purple, thanks ;P
And I don't really have anything to add that you haven't already said. As usual, I agree with you word for word. Twinsies and stuff!

I also relate to feeling invisible, and wanting to be invisible simultaneously.

I'm suspicious of being an ENTP(possibly an ENFP) type 9w1 masquerading as an INTP.
Then again, that could just be the type 9 tendency to see myself in everything.

Too many questions now.. Am I mistyped as an ENTP 9? Are they really that rare? Could this be why I find other ENTP's abrasive at times and relate more sometimes to other types?

Yes. But you'd have to elaborate on what/why in on order to know if it's about the ENTP/E9 combination or something else.

Why do you believe you are an ENTP 9 and not an INTP 9? INTP 9s are more common.
