What would the world be like if NF’s especially INFP’s were the majority

Here is how it would work. Describe the change that would happen in a different personality type of INFP's and NF's were the majority of the population. What would be different in the world? I am curious as to what all different types would say. So post away.

If NFs were the in the majority, society would see a drastic change. Since our (or the American) culture is so focused on entertainment, the 'roles' of the entertainers would change -- there would be an emphasis on imagination over the visually suggestive, for example. At the same time, the educational system might change: it's been addressed, and I would think education would take on a role similar to the entertainment industry, with a focus on imagination and ideals and everything NFs seem to hold in high esteem.

If INFPs, specifically, were in the majority...

Introverted behavior would, obviously, be considered less taboo. Much of the same that would exist for the NF majority would be true for the INFP majority, although perhaps specifically tuned in to what INFPs consider 'good' on the whole. We would see much innovation that had never been created or thought of before, provided with the tools to create and see as a reality.

Negatively, the SJ types would be shunned, and possibly the SP types. They would likely have the same pressure that INFPs face today as a small minority of type in society, which could provide an environment of unhealthy behavior and self-esteem, if no one were around to 'help' them. For acceptance of their types, there would be a 'fight', which could go on for many generations, either until the INFP majority accepted them, or SJs and SPs became the majority type of the society's era. If they were not to become a majority at one time, I believe the truly 'famous' people, great thinkers and scholars, would be of their temperaments, just because they would be known to think differently and introduce new areas of thought.

It's all conjecture, but that's what I think might happen.

    But personally?

I think it would be frustrating. Too many INFPs.

    A touchy, feely disaster.

Good points so far. But INFP's usually do accept people that are different so I don't think we would shun any "SJ's" or anyone. I think we would try to find what makes each type happy and peaceful and try to give that to them. That is what I would do if I was ruler of this new world.

What do you see wrong with touchy feely? How would that be a disaster? We would not be touchy feely to you if you did not want us to be touchy feely. We would respect that in you.

Discriminatory attitudes transcend types. If NFs, and INFPs, were in the distinct minority, they would have only several brands of accepted thinking -- and likely, the SJ and Sp temperaments would not fit these brands of thinking. Even if you do feel INFPs are very open and accepting of other people, I don't believe that would apply, encountering something new and unknown. The basic animal instinct, on finding something new and interesting, is to investigate, and usually after to shun or kill. I think it would be much the same for these types.

Many of the current world issues such as war, hunger, the environment, etc would be on the fast track to being remedied. A whole new set of problems would likely take its place though. Ones that the NF's probably wouldn't be suited to solve.

Too much of any type in power would be a mess. An INFP dominate would lack order, and because they all have their different value systems and morals they would clash and bias would come. It might have a problem making advancements because of P. Little importance on status might kill people's drive.

There is nothing wrong with touchy/feeliness. However, it isn't very efficient, and, well, isn't that the premises (if not execution) of socialism or communism? Sounds great, but doesn't work as well in practice. Now, maybe if EVERYONE was INFP's it would be ok as nobody would take advantage of the situation. Visit Naples, Italy sometime for the negative example.

I think it would be a disaster on several levels. First of all, we INFPs aren't the best with Te, so things would be tend towards the disorganized and unscheduled in the best of times.

For example: the airport. Can you imagine air traffic control run by a bunch of non-directive INFPs. "There's a plane in your path. Maybe you consider a different heading?" How about airline scheduling? Flights would always be behind schedule, being held for someone who MEANT to be on time, because what's more important, getting off EXACTLY on time, or someone not making a wedding at all?

Also, having any kind of coherent justice system would be an uphill battle. Mercy is a great thing, but the victim isn't always right in every situation. Even though I'm personally all about the Fi, when two people with strongly held values clash, there has to be some external way to resolve the differences with objective fairness. While I sure don't want inflexible rules to crush people, I admit there needs to be rules that are consistently applied (with some wiggle room).

There would certainly be pluses, of course, but I'm just as happy we INFPs aren't in charge. I like having some SJs at work... they cheerfully do the stuff I suck at. Just as long as I'm not forced to be them, it's all good.
