My mom has a machete under her bed. It's dull though.

I probably will never buy a gun, unless the government says I can't have one. Then I'll run out and get it just to say screw you to the state.

Generally, I see a gun as a tool that can be used for good in the hands of a good man or evil in the hands of a bad one. My time in the US Navy taught me never to trust the US government again. I hope everyone here looks at Uncle Sam with a healthy degree of suspicion.

I really can't be bothered to get into the whole political aspect of this. But for me personally, I have a gun in my nightstand. First round is non-lethal...if I have to shoot a second round you're toast. And if you've made it past my German Shepherd and into my home in the first place...well....you deserve to be shot. Get the $#$% out of my house. I have the right to defend myself in my home against an intruder...I am not just going to sit back and sing Cumbayah while some person tries to steal my belongings or bring harm to myself or my family...

Ensuring the right to own a weapon is not "giving" someone the ability to take another's life. While you may primarily view firearms as a means to ending life, that's not necessarily the case. I use my firearms for recreation. Besides, people were killing each other long before firearms were invented.

Ah and along that lethal weapon stuff -- just turn in anything that can be used as a lethal weapon while you're at it. Like your car, any steak knifes, rope, heavy tools and oh yeah your hands and feet.

I'm against gun control. I'm in Texas, so everyone here has pretty much the same idea.

It's a Constitutional right. Our Founders knew what they were doing. I think their main thing was that citizens need gun to protect themselves from the government. It's a check on tyranny.

Also, forbidding guns makes sure that only criminals have guns. Criminals don't care about the law. They'll get a gun one way or another. And if gun use is restricted, citizens will have no way to defend themselves. Anyone who actually goes though the process to legally be able to carry a concealed hand gun is not likely to use it in the wrong way. Guns should be allowed on college campuses. It would prevent/stop many shootings.
