So most of the times that I've ever taken versions of the tests online, I've gotten INFP but I've also gotten INFJ (though much more randomly and I truly believe I'm more of a P than J but I've gotten some tests that said I was borderline P and J too). However, what I think I am truly borderline on is being E/I because when I read ENFP, I felt like that's how I'm with other people but I've never gotten that result from any test I've taken. Another source of confusion for me is that when I registered and took the test supplied there, I got "ISFP", which I've never ever gotten before but I was surprised in that I also thought it fit me.
I'm torn because all three do a good job of explaining my personality, albeit with different emphases.
I know that basing your life on a system of set types can be arbitrary but rather than it giving my life validation, it fuels my introspection and it's completely provocative to read aspects you haven't deeply analyzed. Thus, it does matter to me to have a consistent personality type as I don't think I've ever seen on forums anyone possessing more than one personality type. I understand that discrepancies happen because each test has its own variables and criteria of assessments and so instead of taking more tests, I just want to hear what everybody thinks.
I'm most likely an introverted type but the reason why I felt like the ENFP personality type fit me because even though I think I am very "INFP", I think I compartmentalize like an ENFP would into "this is my external personality" meaning I absorb the energy of my external surroundings when I'm around people and try to promote an atmosphere of joy and optimism and I've noticed I will initiate conversation with anyone and forget my nerves because I just feel this intense power in being effervescent and complete abandon. When I let my guard down and be open, I just feel like people are at eased and I love the feeling of a connection being formed even if it's based on small talk and friendly smiles.
And when I'm reclusive and introverted, sometimes it's like I'm immersed in this subtle kaleidoscope that seems vibrant and sad and emotive but in it, someone has woven my soul through the patterns and I feel like there's an unspoken, unparalleled beauty in its grasp so I have to embody these spiritual motions to feel all of that in its truest form.
Sometimes I think of my interactions with people as somatic -- like a "heart" - I can feel the pulse and breath of anything and I'm enamored by it but to me, I'd rather be left as just a spirit even if it means I'm aimless, so by using that metaphor, I would rather be an "I" instead of "E" and I guess that reflects when I'm answering things.
I don't know, I can see the whole ISFP thing too but I've always gotten INFP throughout my life and I'm just so confused. I think for me, I've always gotten INFP because with the way sensory and intuition are contrasted against each other. Even though I feel like I'm very resourceful of my senses, I pay more attention to my impressions of things and how my life has been filtered by imagery, symbolism, and meaning. The way that most sites describe "sensing" is by learning through experience and facts and details and while I see myself as that too (If anyone is into astrology, my moon is in Virgo and we're very much like that), I still feel like I'll learn more about my life reading a Dostovesky short story (like "Notes From The Underground" or "White Nights) then by my experience (which has always felt very subjective to me -- like a pensive in Harry Potter that is colored by the memory-holder's own emotions and reactions and may not be what actually happened as an "event".).
Anyway, in my attempt to give everyone reasons as to why I'm confused, I'm afraid to go on a tangent and thus I'll stop. If you need any more information, let me know (because being my verbose self, I'll probably give it).
And oh, I did my enneagram, and I'm a Type 5 with a 4 wing though I also really identified with my next strong type too which is Type 4 with a 5 wing.
I should also say I'm very very very very new to this and I don't completely understand the dynamics of how each letter affects each other.
Thank you so much for just reading this!
I answered a few questions in a different way and I got INFP - ah! But I'd still like to know if I'm an INFP for sure (as sure as people can get with a personality type)
(I don't know what I did to get ISFP and I closed the tab so I don't know the percentages. xD)
