Could some ESFP's be accidentally tested as an ENFP?

They have different dominant functions. Ne and Se. But they can be easily confused in a test. There is a quite useful article about this problem:
How to tell iNtuiting from extraverted Sensing | Interstrength Associates

Sometimes I get confused between the two but usually I can tell the difference between an ESFP and an ENFP - it's ESTP and ENFP I confuse mostly
In tests however, yes, they can mis-type themselves...my enfp sis tested herself as esfp at one point, and enfp in others - though observing her for a long period of time she is definitely enfp.
ENFPs and ESFPs actually have a lot in common - although Ne & Se appear to be 'opposed' as it were, the primary means of experiencing life is similar, through the extraverted perceiving function. The S/N divide is much less important (at least in terms of harmony) than P/J.
I (mostly) love ESFPs![]()
I'd think if you were close to the person it would be easy. An ENFP will be talking about morals, ethics and love while an ESFP will be out having a crazy time. I find that the ESFPs are not the kinds of people who attend rallies, pickets and protests where the ENFP does. The ENFP feels a drive to follow a strong personal values system in an attempt to create identity while an ESFP seeks sensual experiences.
I could easily tell the difference between myself and the ESFP guy I talked to all the time this summer. He would constantly get pissed off when I tried to analyze him/his life situations and would get offended when I acted like I knew what was going on with him just from intuitively drawing conclusions. Unless you could provide some sort of concrete evidence for something he would swear it was untrue. But otherwise our personalities meshed pretty well.
I think he was a bit of an unhealthy ESFP though.
The ESFP guy that you describe doesn't sound like me at all. Although, I typically do not disclose much about myself I am fairly certain that I have never not will I ever verbally attacked my partner for trying to analyze me.
