This is the companion chart. It shows the location of MBTI types on a Somatotype chart

    And INTJs...haha

I think the suggestion of a relationship between personality type and body type is a bit___...just doesn't make sense

    Android654:

No INFP? That is one of the casualties of the flawed Jungian system. Where are the SN and TF types in the Jungian system.

Look a little closer at the problem of the bipolarity of the MBTI (Jungian) functions and attitudes. The main problem is that all the functions are necessary to all organisms. We all think, feel, do and see. We differ however in our preferences for these functions. Some of us are DOERS while others are FEELERS. Some of us are THINKERS and others are SEERS. This is what is referred to as our dominant function. If we add a secondary (auxiliary) system to the mix (temperament means “mixture”) we then become FEELING-DOERS, THINKING-SEERS, DOER-THINKERS for a total of twelve combinations. If you consider the rejected, weakest, inferior function/system, you have 24 permutations. Note that this means you can have THINKING-FEELERS, and DOER (Sensation)-SEERS (Intuition). Jung never figured that out.

If there are only twelve primary types it can be expected that some of the MBTI types will prove to be redundant or not different enough to really be considered a distinct type.

MBTI is test based on word perception. Somatotype is based on measuring something physical.

As it turns out the INFP is really a special case of ENFJ. Read the descriptions for those two types and you'll notice some very strong similarities.

I agree,... body type and personality type can't really be related to eachother. Bu I think that activity level and eating habits can.

Think about it,... How many fat ass technical people do you know and how many fat ass sales people do you know? You can argue that your personality type determines your activity level. Even the kind of food people eat. I hate it when my brain seems to be not able to concentrate very well. When I don't eat enough vegetables for a couple of days I notice the effect on my thinking power.

I've seen people who exercise on a regular basis and eat right but are still over weight...endomorphs

Body type has little to do with activity level or eating habits...an ectomorph could never exercise or eat right and still be skinny

I'm happy to be a mesomorph...I classify myself as that because I've always been equally good at gaining and losing weight and because even before I started kickboxing, I had quite a bit of muscle without ever having exercised much at all

Those of you who say body type has no relationship to personality are ignorant of the research into that area.

If you had an ounce of scientific curiosity you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss something you know absolutely nothing about.

Do you even know what your exact somatotype is? There are 1800 possible types.

    Bethdeth:

How do you really know if you are an ectomorph? There are skinny endomorphs. They find that out as they get old and fat. Furthermore, how do you know you are an INTJ. Is it because you scored INTJ on the MBTI? It's not a very reliable instrument.
