Ok, so.. recently I've had a lot of people ask "so, this Ne/Ni.. what exactly is the difference?" I've been trying to explain to my parents (because they are interested in Myers Briggs, or, you know, because I want to tell them.. same difference.. lol), and I find myself unable to explain.
I feel like I understand, but can't put it into words, and so, can anybody give concrete examples of:
Here's something from Wellness Resources of Vermont; hopefully it helps somewhat. Since it is just a general outline overall, however, it might seem a little two dimensional. I'll rely on any reader to correct any possible inaccuracies. Introverted Feeling
Internal decision-making
Focus on individual persons
Hypersensitive to emotional state, authenticity, & needs of individuals
Hypersensitive to level of emotional safety in groups
Aware of emotional state of self
Deep personal relationships enhance personal harmony & sense of well-being
Assumes that non-negotiable core values anchor everyone
Laissez faire. Non-judgmental
No agenda. No need to manipulate or control
Extroverted Feeling
Harmonious environment energizes
Focus on groups of people and collective relationships
Tuned in to emotional timbre of group
Respects and enforces "shoulds" ("political correctness", manners, social structure)
Self-assesses through "shoulds"
"Knows" what others need
Disagreement is bad. Conflict-averse
"Us" vs. "Them" ("You're either with us or against us")
Evaluative (better vs. worse)
Guided by values that are assumed to be shared.
Agenda driven
Introverted Thinking
Internal decision-making
Narrow focus on task
Subjective, internal decision-making
Unilateral (not collaborative)
Emotions interfere with precise analysis, so ignore except as information
ok so that list was really a fiasco LOL
No just kidding but not really
It is a good read but not practical. Ok ENFP's won't read lists and memorize them they want to develop ideas on their own and need only a start point. That's the intented meaning of a not so unpopular song called "Light my Fire"
Anyways i'm not sure how mbti knowledgable are, but if you want to answer someone you just need the basics. ENFP's tend to have problems describing things as such LOL, because you see it as a whole, no problem.
Just use Fi; what Fi does is it contrasts it is the function of polarities.
Think it in this way. You know the main difference between Feeling and Thinking is the readiness to let emotions or systematic reason influence you.
So F types can or cannot have control of their emotions, but will always be aware of them and will always look for ways to be affected or not by them.
The difference between Extroversion and Introversion is the direction where attention is proyected to.
Extroverts proyect themselves in the world of objects. Anything engaging what's out of the border which we will call "your body" is an extroverted attitude. While the exact opposite, anything proyected towards the innerself of the "border" is an introverted attitude.
Introverts proyect themselves in a richness of interpretations of what objects ought to represent in the external world.
Following the previous infos you can come to the conclusion that the difference between Fe and Fi is where the" Attention" or Feeling is directed towards.
In the extroverted feeling attitude, the person engages the external world to influence it according to how it (the person) feels about it (the world).
In the introverted feeling attitude, the person engages itself to evaluate the interpretation of the world according to how it feels about it (it's personal interpretation).
With this formula you can intuit the rest
A couple of points on the Extrovert and Introvert - first function
Extrovert:
Action-reflection-action
Prefers communication through talking
Introvert:
Reflect-action-reflection
Prefers communication through writing
The last function:
Judging
Thinks in long-term
Perceiving
Thinks in the present, the bigger picture
Not a lot but that's all I can remember off the top of my head!
