Same here. I can pretty much sing anything sung by a guy. I can sing things sung by girls...but generally not in the same octaves. Btw, I'm lyric tenor.

To my knowledge, I can't say I have a preference. I'm aware that a majority of my favorite bands have male vocalists, but I don't go out of my way to listen to male singers or anything like that. There just aren't many females that make the kind of music I listen to.

Believe me, I do like some female vocalists, but I do prefer male singers instead. Can't really explain why, but it's just a preference I can't easily change.

VERY strong preference for male vocals when what I am listening to has vocals at all. I generally dislike female vocals, except for a talented few. Most sound whiney or grate on really my nerves.

I like female vocals, both deep female voices and higher, brighter female voices (though I don't like most female pop music because they sound like spoiled, bratty little girls). the female voice overall is much more soothing and tends to flow better (a male voice that can sing elegantly is a rare treat, but generally women's voices are more lyrical and elegant). higher female voices are heroic and feminine (if produced with good technique) while deeper female voices have this wonderful husky quality that sounds like a growling tiger. male voices are usually either wimpy/immature sounding, or too "woof-ish" sounding or don't flow as well.

I tend to prefer female vocals for the more soft songs, and male vocals for rock/hard rock and the likes.

I don't have a real preference and listen to instrumentals more than the vocals (and I only listen to lyrics when they stand out to me).

Aside from rap, where I frankly prefer male rappers to female rappers, in most genres I don't have a definitive preference.
In dream pop, I like female vocals more, but I generally like female vocalists who come off sexy or romantic or the like (Julee Cruise's music oozes of sex appeal to me).

I guess I could say I prefer male vocals, because most of my favourite vocalists/artists tend to be male. They tend to have a warmer voice, whereas most females tend to have this dramatic (whiny, annoying, etc.) tone to their voices when they are singing.

I do absolutely love female artists like Kate Bush (<3) or Lisa Gerrard, though. Because their voices sound extremely warm and somewhat ethereal. But voices like theirs are a rare find.

It all really depends on the type of music. Like for rock/screamo/metalcore I prefer male vocals. If a female can pull it off then I'll like it. And for softer music, I like female vocals and also some make vocals. But, for the most part i like male vocals

I like male vocals, but thats because of the genre I mainly listen to (rock) but in other genre like Techno or dubstep i think a womans voice works much better. Or for some cases alternative music like music with both male and female singer ;) there are a few rock bands with that to like the Russian band Slot.
