Every type has its good and bad representatives, but after googling for some famous ISTPs, I decided to comprise a list of the best ones I could find. After seeing all these names, I'd like to see similar lists in the forums of other types as well. I don't think I'll be making any lists for any other types myself, but if anyone else wants to, I encourage you to!

Most of the lists I found online were very short. This is a compilation of those lists. Enjoy, and please feel free to share any I missed!

Here they are, in no particular order...

Mel Gibson

Wolverine

Clint Eastwood

Han Solo

James Dean

Q

Michael Jordan

The Punisher

Bruce Lee

Boba Fett

Christian Bale

The Fonz

Russell Crowe

Jack Bauer

Burt Reynolds

Iron Man

Tom Cruize

Daniel Craig

Legolas

Kevin Spacey

DISCLAIMER: Some of these people, particularly the fictional ones, can be argued for other types. At the very least, the general consensus for these people is that they are ISTPs.

Because of a 20 picture limit for posts, the three video game ISTPs are in the next post.

Tiger Woods?

Perhaps just Famke Janssen herself (actress). She played a role as Oromov's bodyguard in goldeneye, and pretty much had orgasm everytime she fired the ak47... haha. Just the actress herself, and I'm basing this primarily off of her constant stoic appearance and half smiles that characterize ISTP's.

That half smile has always interested me.

Yeah, to be honest, I did look specifically for female ISTPs, but the ones I found were never people I recognized. In all honesty, the ISTP category is male-dominated (rawr). Does anyone have any other good female ISTPs that I missed? (Or males, for that matter).

I would be careful to propose knowing the actor's true type. Characters may be observed in the movies, but knowing that Sylvester Stallone, Matt Damon, Clint Eastwood, etc are ISTPs in real life is a bit presumptious unless you know them intimately. Granted the rags like the "Enquirer" can give us some indication, but maybe I just don't follow anyone's career enough to be that engrossed in their personal life.

Only one of my favorite people in the entire universe.

(...yeah, that's him in my profile pic) :blushed:

or, as I and the rest of the universe first saw him...

Amuro. Amuro Ray.
(...I do believe he would typify "Mechanic". --With a gun.)
And dude, he builds his *own* gunda...gadgets. (And turns into a paranoid psychempath! (no, that's not a misspelling) :)

As you see.

Badass enough to be one of the most famous people in Japan (not just animation!) for the last thirty years... (they built a 1/1 replica of the Gundam from 1979 there for the show's anniversary this summer!)

He does a little more than I do. But I still feel :)P) very strongly with him on the I and the P, I guess.
Even if I actually like his non-ISTP gf a little better.

(is it common for ISTPs to have the tech-nerd/badass balance?)

Im not sure about the actess who plays her DJ Arendee could have point, but the charater Jean Grey I think is an INFJ not saying that because I am. It just adds up with the empath powers and all. she was a lot like Xavier. I have to add she is totaly stunning and I yed my hair red because of her. Sadly the likness stopped with the hair. Have you had Indiana Jones yet?

Most characters that Michelle Rodriquez plays seem to be some pretty bad ass ISTP females.

Here's a quote from her that sums up ISTP females in movies pretty nicely.
"Anytime you’ve got a wild, independent, free-spirited woman, she has to die at the end of the movie, unless it’s a movie that’s so sci-fi that it can’t be real, like Tomb Raider. Me? I die in every film that I’m in this year. They’re just gonna have to keep on killing me. I’ll keep coming back, until they realize what’s hot and make flicks for bitches like me."

I think she's an ESTP irl though.

Calvin "Silent Cal" Coolidge sounds like an ISTP to me. I don't know about Zachary Taylor though.
