Does it ever help you to put it in writing?

I pretty much deal with everything internally. I've never been one to journal about my feelings and stuff or put it down on paper. Occasionally I like to bounce ideas off of people I trust, but I rarely find it helpful to work through things by putting it writing.

I've been dealing with two big things lately; my career/job search and a new friendship+ (with a female). In order to address some of the weaker parts of my personality, I've started a job search notebook where I've been recording everything from ideal job attributes to a plan of action. I've been pleasantly surprised by how much it's helping.

As for the lady...I think I might like to pursue a relationship, but there are one or two things I'm not sure about. I just opened a Word doc, and for whatever reason, I wrote almost 1,000 words about it without hesitation. It was the strangest feeling to see my innermost thoughts and feelings put down in writing, but it was surprisingly freeing.

It's the strangest feeling, but it's been helpful. I'm just curious whether any of you have ever done much of this. Did you find it helpful or not? What sort of things like this have you found useful?

P.S. If you're here to question my personality type, f**k off.

Yes, It helps me....i think partly because i'm so visual that I like to SEE it.
I dont' always write full sentences...sometimes just a bunch of random words and lines and scribbles but it makes sense to me

I don't like to journal about my feelings really, just random thoughts and threads and words that I want to keep track of and make sense of....then once they're all on the paper, I can study them and process them internally.

Te is awesome, because it verifies the correctness of my Ti going nuts on subjects.

Solely on a logical grounds though, I don't do emotions, not even on paper.

Yes, I write when I'm frustrated about a situation mostly. I also write to people when I don't feel like going into a huge discussion about a topic...especially when it's something that can potentially turn into an argument.

I'm that way as well.....if my husband and i are having a problem, i always prefer to discuss it through email. I find the physical distance helps me a LOT. Also it helps me get my thoughts completely organized and I can say things the way I want to say them, without feeling the pressure of the moment with the person right in front of me. It gives me TIME to process and verbalize which I don't usually have when Im' right in front of someone, and since Im' married to an ENFJ....i REALLy need that time to formulate what I'm going to say carefully so that I dont' hurt his feelings....otherwise I"ll just go into "Straight up blunt asshole" mode and I'll tear him a new one He's sensitive and in order for me to be sensitive to his emotions when we're arguing....i need that distance.

Oh, believe me. There are no full sentences to speak of and certainly no order to what I write down. You hit the nail on the head though. I don't, 'journal about my feelings,' but sometimes there's just so much data bouncing around my head that it's impossible to keep it organized. I get it out of my head however it comes out, then as I read it and take it back in, I can organize it. It's something I think I'm going to try to do more, because it's been extremely helpful with everything that's going on right now.

For me I usually write to clear my head. When I'm angry or something is bugging me I'll sit down and write/type it all out. Gets rid of some of the frustration and makes things that bother me seem like less of an issue.

I've written about my personal life almost daily for over a year. Not in a "Dear Diary" sort of way, but in a fashion eerily similar to the way my International Security class is being taught to analyze intelligence. At the most stressful time since I started writing, it was no problem for me to write for page after page theorizing, analyzing, and occasionally even emoting. It was amazing how much it helped me cope with the situation. Committing time solely to considering these things also helped me to clear my head significantly for the rest of my daily obligations.

I've never kept a journal consistently. I probably should try it, instead of brooding like I usually end up doing.

I've tried, but like madhatter I was never consistent with it. I've tried on probably 3 separate occasions and by the time I was a page or two in to my first entry, I'd skim what I had already wrote and think, "Wtf is this shit? Not gonna happen." Followed by me tearing out and crumbling up the pages I just wrote on.

It makes me kind of uneasy to see my thoughts on paper.
