Personalities are very much fluid, and often can manifest themselves in unexpected times and places. I act and think mostly like an ISTP, but sometimes I find myself expressing more intuition and judging attributes. Your personality type is (in my opinion) influenced primarily by the environment (what you are exposed to, how you are raised) and can become cemented at a very early age. It took me until three to learn how to talk, and I think that may have put me a step behind everybody else in early life, making me more introverted because I had to rely more on my own thoughts. But unique situations and shocks to the brain that regulates your personality can change it in a heartbeat. Whether or not you are a dominant sensor or intuitive is irrelevant, what really matters is how it relates to your everyday life. Just getting to know yourself is what really matters.

I have idealistic views of the future, and I have intellectual "visions" of the future. For example, I see an inevitable worldwide catastrophe of epic proportions when humans reach and exceed the sustainable population (carrying capacity) of the earth that could happen in only a half a century. I'm talking resource conflicts, exponentially increasing deforestation, loss of biodiversity and generalized chaos. But I'm not afraid of that. The future can worry me, but I worry more about the immediate future and how that might affect the long term future. I think ISTPs think and act in the present, but the future can occupy their mind. I guess we think more about the present and its relationship with the future more than we think about the future and how it relates to the present, if that makes sense.

    This isn't resurrection. It's necromancy.

My future thoughts come from experiences in the present. I look at my bank account and decide I need more financial security. So I make a plan and I work at it for a bit, gaining some solid ground... then trail off into something else.

Or the infamous "I really should quit smoking for health/money" plan. So I go ahead and quit. I don't even think about it for weeks on end. Then one day I walk into a cigar shop for no reason other than "I feel like having a cigar today."

I think about the future and plan for it, I just have trouble sticking to it.

I think I need a strong J woman to kick my ass :)

    Edit: Whoa, old thread...
