Many people with less interest in computers still use them for certain tasks, including Myspace, etc. The point is, the internet medium of this forum does not make our answers biased. Aren't we all using the same internet site? I didn't hear many other types unanimously claim that computers are one of their primary hobbies. Regular use of the internet via email or social networks does not qualify one as having a high aptitude or insatiable desire for computing, like we have. The ISTP's are simply saying that they would probably prefer spending time on computers over other hobbies like poetry readings, volunteer work, shopping sprees, board games or dinner parties (ugh!). |

I enjoy volunteer work especially of the sort where I'm "saving the day" so to speak. Say a group decides to build wheelchair ramps for 10 homes that desperately need them in the neighborhood...Also, when a group of maybe 5 friends or family members get together for dinner and then everyone sits around the table with coffee and drinks to "CHAT", i'm the one who's pushing games...board games, card games...anything to avoid conversation stuff. And dinner parties are great cause i'm the hostess with the mostest i like to make sure dinner is great and drinks are filled...and it means, once again, that i'm not expected to do as much talking! :)
hobbies: reading, walking, hiking, camping, working in the workshop on boat repairs, horses, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, coaching, dogs, internet surfing (but not so much games) running and biking.
school: pharmacy major, science major, graphic design major, fine art watercolor major, elementary education major...never finished. 6 classes to go.
dress code: jeans, tees, fleece, with hikers or runners. cargo shorts, tees and keen sandals in warm weather. i favor sportbras over sexy lingerie. moisturizer with SPF, chapstick and a ponytail is my beauty routine. |

playing with my daughter
messing with the multitude of computers at my house
video games
sleeping
watching soccer
Career:
Systems administrator
going back to school to start programming
dress:
cargo shorts, grey shirts, rainbows (rain/shine), north face fleece if cold
(essentially, abercrombie and fitch, from like 12 years ago)
writing that down is a little embarrassing.
An interesting note about ISTP's and their web use. If you look at the total posts for all the different boards, we definitely have one of the smallest totals. Compared to the NF's and the NT's, we are definitely the minority. |

If to take into account that almost everyone has posted something about computers then it would say that we should have a lot more posts than NTs because there are "less" of them as to speak but thats not the case.
Also... does it just seem to me that most are into computers but there are no hobbies that take up a lot of time, just things to do occasionaly?
Brought this topic back alive since was bored of having nothing to do earlier and was wondering what others are doing with their time |
