    Procrastinating because of PerC?

This title is somewhat of a misleading title, since the real reason that one procrastinates is a lack of motivation (due to disinterest, perfectionism, fear, or some other reason).

But anyhow, do you find that you often use PerC to procrastinate? Do you find this website addictive, or could you stay off of it if you needed to?

I have found this website to be pretty addictive. I'll often be on this website as opposed to doing something else that I should be doing (not that I'd ever miss out on meeting any of my obligations though). But then again, I don't feel very guilty for coming on this website. Some of the things that I've procrastinated on are because I don't like doing the tasks, and so I could say I wasn't properly motivated to do them. But I think I may just have an addictive personality in some ways--it's not just PerC.

I do come on this website a lot but I could live without it. I just don't see a reason to. I do use it to procrastinate, yes. It's an awful thing to procrastinate with because I'll think to myself "I just want to see if I have any notifications, that's it" but I often end up being on here longer than that. But there are other websites I use to procrastinate as well. I've learned to turn off the internet while I'm doing work on my computer or to have Pandora open but tell myself that I'm not allowed to open any other tabs.

I come on to this web site because it is nice to learn more about my self, and i find that i am addicted to it.

I mean, right this minute, i am supposed to be working on an English assignment lol

almost done though! its kinda like write a sentence, then spend 1 minute on PerC...

My mind wonders to it often, as Severtain found in his experience. With the notifications and all I want to check for any updates as well as updates to threads.

My latest plan is to adopt chrome Nanny, and limit myself to one sitting of PerC a day to be more productive. I hope I have the will to make it happen.

PerC is in fact very addictive. However, when I was in school, I limited my time because schoolwork was more important. It's all about self-control. I'm on right now because I don't have any clients in the office, but if someone walked in, I would exit PerC immediately. I believe that it's so addictive because it's like the "aha" moment. I.E., 'there are actually other people out there that are just like me!' ... which is far more addictive than any drug.

I don't use it so much to procrastinate (well maybe occasionally at work), but I find I often don't have anything else to do (well besides clean my house, but that is an obvious choice.) My family and our time together comes first, but if my husband is playing a game and my daughter is watching a movie, I may as well kill time on PerC.

I also haven't been too motivated lately. I feel I am doing what I need to recoup my drive and take care of me for awhile, so I don't see it as a bad thing. It has been a learning experience for me from the start.

On the contrary, I would say that this website has interfered some with my school work. Though I will say that when it has, I've also found that I was only trying to meet my own minimum expectation in the coursework because I had lost some care for the coursework. Like my last semester, I knew that I wasn't going to be using my knowledge of mathematics very directly with my future career plans, so I decided to procrastinate some of the work. And I had another class that I thought was a lot of busy-work this last semester, and I wasn't learning much, so I didn't focus on it. If I found my school work very important to me, it would have come first, even if that meant not posting at all. That is, I would have had to have interest in the subjects I was taking and/or see the importance of taking the subject.

I couldn't see that this website would interfere with work at the workplace though. Tbere, there's external accountability, and I wouldn't want to provide poor service to anyone because they rely on me to do well.

Myeh there is a reason today is my last day :) I've always gone up & above with little to no appreciation. Part of why I am lacking in motivation. I won't be on as much at my new job, though I'll still probably peak in when not on deadline as my new boss has said as long as I get my work done, he doesn't care what else I do while at work (within reason of course lol).

When I had my 3 week intersession class, yeah- I procrastinated a lot by being on PerC.

But my opinion is this: I could be doing a LOT worse things to procrastinate, like watching TV or reading Rizzoli & Isles books. Those things are like black holes. PerC isn't though, I can learn more about myself and then have one of those realization moments, which then gets me motivated not to procrastinate any more- then I usually go back to writing my papers.
