N-N-N-NECRO'D!
I always think of Combo Breaker when someone necro's a thread.
But anyway.
The answer is no. I did not go to prom.
I was home-schooled.
The guy that did ask me to his prom, I said no to.
What a waste of time.

Nope, didn't go to prom or the "prom-a-romma" post-prom party either. My high school was very segregated socially if you didn't have a group AND didn't have a significant other you were the lowest life-form. If that weren't enough incentive, unlike many of my classmates I had a job and was scheduled to work a fundraiser/banquet the same day/evening as prom. Crazy to think my 10 year High School Reunion is coming up soon...so not going to that either.
I'm probably the only one here who regrets that I did not go to prom. Like most of you had mentioned, in high school I was surrounded by people who I didn't want to be around. I didn't go to prom, and I didn't regret it at first. Lots of prom pictures were downloaded on Facebook of many of my friends. As I looked through them these past weeks, I regret that I could have had such a fun time. I have many friends from different high schools. What I wish had happened was that I could go to a prom of a different high school, where there were people I would've actually like to have fun with![]()
I went with a large group of people who got exceptionally frisky as the night went on, and I ended up growing more and more annoyed as they continued grinding up against me while I stood there refusing to dance. I kind of regret going to prom, and if it wasn't for the delicious chocolate covered strawberries it would have been a total bust.
I grew up in a country that didn't have proms. Proms were something you saw in American movies. At the end of high school, you got your diploma in a ceremony, and then there was a party I didn't go to - "thank God I'll never have to see these people again!" I couldn't wait for the moment when I didn't have to see those people again. I had only two friends in high school, plus my sister who is three years younger.
I came to the U.S. for college (and to ensure that I never ran into the high school people again), and went to two "semi-formals" like that that were thrown by a service organization that my then-boyfriend belonged to (the INTJ I mentioned in another thread). I'll dig up the photo from one of them and scan it in, since y'all are talking photos. I just had to buy a dress, a purse, and a necklace the first time. I wore the same outfit for the second one. Didn't do much with make-up or hair. I still have the cute purse, and the dress is in the closet but it's a size 10 and now I'm not!
I still enjoy "Pretty in Pink", and Iona's funny comment about her friend who didn't go to the prom.
