Over time, the work stayed but the pay didn't increase. Years ago I asked for more money for the work and she said she couldn't afford it. Now I make almost twice that at my day job, and the work isn't nearly as obnoxious. Yet still I took on this same shit work at $15 an hour. I did some of it, but I'm done. She wants the computer back tomorrow.

The work load was too much for my scant free time over the weekend. I can't be a single parent and do this stuff too. It's just not going to happen. I'm too spent after a day handling my daughter to lock my brain onto this mindless, boring design work.
Where do I find a day job like yours? My day job pays right around that 15 mark, and my favor-work I do for free :(

Rant: So the rents did not fill out the information on my FAFSA that I asked them to. I've been bugging them forever about it. I finally got them to do it, and oh heyyy! My school sent me an email with tons more forms to fill out! So then I had to get them to actually SIT DOWN and help me with their tax information. And money=my mom, so she was extremely reluctant. I finally got them all signed and done, so I went this morning to financial aid, and they were CLOSED. So I haven't gotten my loan yet for school... it's $3,200... if I don't get a loan, then my parents said I am not going to school. Um, I don't have a job either.
I know that my school only awards loans on Wednesdays, which means I have to get my forms turned in and processed by financial aid by Friday (fees are due August 3rd). And they do not go that fast concerning paperwork. I was hoping to be out of town next week... so maybe I won't get to go camping after all.
    Parents are awful.
And lol- my dad said to me that my mom is preventing me from getting a job. Oh Dad... why?!?!?! I know that you say what you mean, but you never ever stand up for me when I am up against the beast (aka my mom).

EDIT: I know I bitch a lot on this Rant thread. I apologize. If it doesn't get posted here, then it just ends up sitting in my brain and marinating for a while.

My day job involves very, very little design work.

That isn't a requirement for me :D unfortunately, it's about all I'm good at. Good for you for not bothering with the crappy weekend work :) I have finally learned how to not overcommit myself

No, I am not in law enforcement. I work for a domestic violence agency. In my capacity with the agency, I work at the county courthouse, so I am frequently in contact with all levels of law enforcement. Carry on.

Received three private message notifications this morning, and still waiting for another. Looks like I won't be idle on PerC for a while.

Rant (pathetic whine): Another day of getting nothing sorted. I have major website programming to change (ajax and XML and good stuff like that) and people keep ringing up to bitch about non-essential crap.

Oh for an office of my own, to lock the door and pull the plug on the phone.

I don't know if there is a system like this is US, but I am so glad there is a system like this here in Aus. If you are a citizen/ permanent resident, then the government pays all your fees now and subsidises more than half of it. You pay the other half of your fees when you finish your degree and are earning above $40,000 per year mark in little instalments of 4-12% of your salary. And if you don't take this loan, and decide to pay your fees currently while studying, then you get 20% off plus the subsidy.

I am so glad it works this way. I don't have a decent job either and while I know my parents won't mind paying for me, I would rather not be a financial burden on someone and rely on their goodwill. Rather be independent and pay back when I am capable. I guess that was a rave....
