I don't know why, it could be because I like that they honor truth a lot, but they don't appear to seek arguments only for the sake of seeking arguments.
Or it could be because I am too familiar with an ISTJ in my life![]()

Nah, you're right. Try and argue about something that's already been logically concluded and you're talking to dead ears unless you deliver outstanding facts stating the opposite
I'm glad we're appreciated for this. What I'd like to be recognized for is my loyalty, honesty and intellect.
Honest for better or worse.. Whatever you do don't ask me what I really think unless you really want to hear it..
Funny story:
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to sit on a committee of about a dozen people. This committee represented quite a few people, but the organization they were heading up was in disarray. Being the ISTJ that I am, after joining the committee, I began to clean things up in a big way, establishing order and holding people's feet to the fire in that I expected them to do what they said they would do. I developed a bit of a reputation because of my attitude toward freeloaders and my blunt way of dealing with issues--tasks first, people second.
So, we're into this shaking up process about eight months, and they are asking me to volunteer to travel to all of the cities within the district and to hold meetings with the members in those cities, in order to continue to move things forward. So the question was asked, "Jim, would you be willing to do that again, for us?"
I thought for about 5 seconds and said, "Well, if I can be brutally honest..."
Robert looked at me in surprise and interjected, "When have you been anything BUT brutal with your honesty?!?"
The whole place erupted in laughter.
Ah, well.
The honesty, yes, I think it's the thing I value most about ISTJ's. It stings a little bit at first...but I respect them for it. It was the no BS, straight-forward honesty of an ISTJ that helped me come to some important realizations in my life about a bad situation I was in. Was a hard pill to swallow but my life has changed for the better because I took the advice and sought help. I love my NF friends...but they are the kings/queens of sugarcoating. I needed brutal honesty....which I got...and I will always be thankful for that.
That's thing..You're brutally honest but tactful at the same time, which I like..
