    Food and Cooking

    Hey ISTJs!

Do you like food? Do you like cooking? What are your favorite recipes? What's your favorite food & cuisine?
Are you likely to eat the same foods over and over again, or do you have a varied diet?

I feel like cooking and baking is the only part of my life where I'm not a classic ISTJ. I'm more likely to adapt a recipe than to follow it, though that's probably partially due to my food allergies. I like putting a twist on classic dishes (for example, a lasagna made with squash.) Sometimes my recipes turn out great! Other times...

As far as what kinds of food I eat, I usually stick to what I know. I tend to order the same thing in restaurants over and over again. (And this is true for the other ISTJ I know.)

On that note, I don't know why there's a stereotype that ISTJs have little self-control when it comes to food. I mean sure, I love eating...a lot... all the time...

But where does this stereotype come from?

I love cooking, but the only time I follow a recipe is the first time I cook something, after that I adapt the recipe by taste and smell: mostly because of the variance in the flavors and intensity from one herb or spice source to another.

During the summer I prefer to use the charcoal BBQ and my smoker, and I make all my sauces (mop and finishing sauce).

I do tend to order the same thing in restaurants over and over, because most of the time the reason I go to a restaurant is for that very dish so I can figure out how to prepare it at home. It took me over two years for me to figure out exactly how to cook a Buncrana Bridie and then I slowly altered the pastry until it was perfectly light and fluffy. Mmm Mmm: I think I better go get started on the dough now. :)

I eat to live, it's mere sustenance.

I hate cooking, it's so slow, you stand there for ages bored out of your mind watching things get hot enough to eat. Then again, it'd probably be more fun if my tastebuds weren't broken

Recently I've started logging my daily intakes in calories, carbs, vitamines etc out of sheer curiosity. Very revealing! I highly recommend trying it for a few days.

I actually don`t really enjoy the process of cooking that much but the results are well worth the effort. However,I like cooking better than mopping floors or bathing one of our dogs. My family and I do enjoy the food I make! I also enjoy coaching the nearly grown children on how to cook when it is their turn. I like homemade goodies like macaroni and cheese, mushroom burgers, salads, grilled or broiled chicken or fish, corn on the cob, pumpkin or banana bread, peanut butter oatmeal cookies, fudge and the list could go on and on...

I love cooking as long as it's something enjoyable to me. BBQ, spaghetti, and curry are my favorites. Like Stone, I typically try out a recipe and then adjust it to what I want it to be like. I like my curries with a LOT of heat....have to really tone it down for my wife though.

I can relate to this feeling. xD I'm prone to taking things off before they're done (like pasta,) because I'm hungry and tired of waiting.

I enjoy cooking but it definitely requires patience.

I love cooking and I love eating. I'm like you. I like to eat a variety of things. I like most of everything!! For my taste, I'm not into sugary sweet stuff. I love spicy food. I like to eat all types of food from all over the world! I don't have any favorites, but I guess I'm more into Asian food (prob because I am Asian!). I would eat a different dish every day. But unfortunately, I'm on a strict budget. That is the only reason why I'm stuck with the most basic and simple dishes.

Lol ok, not an ISTJ ...but I couldn't help myself responding ... Love cooking, love eating... Love that cooking is essentially a science and an art;for example, baking requires chemical reactions to work, yet once you understand 'the how and why' then you can take it wherever your taste buds want :-)Also, I quite like the patience required to cook well; it can be a form of mediation (you have to be mindful and 'present'). Chopping piles of veggies with a very very sharp knife for stir fries/Asian is very focusing; I've got the scars to show when I've drifted off ...lol.I make and eat from everywhere... From Japanese eg okonomyaki, Thai eg massaman curry , Vietnamese, Indian, middle eastern Turkish pilaf, Spanish and Portuguese eg their rice pudding and paella of course! ... to British steamed treacle puddings with custard.

I love eating. I hate cooking. If I could afford it, I would have a personal chef. Now that would be amazing.
