    Talking a Lot?

Apparently I have a habit of talking a lot--but only with people I'm really comfortable with. It's a simple equation, the more I'm comfortable with you, the more I'll talk around you.

So we just meet. I don't say a peep. You have to force conversation out of me. We get to know each other a bit better, and things start to smooth out. You talk and I talk, it's a normal conversation. Now I consider you my best friend, and I am a constant chatterbox. I'll talk keep talking, and you don't even have to try to keep up if you want. My close friends say I'm like a TV someone's turned on in the background--I just keep going even though no one's really listening.

Do other ISFPs do this too? It's funny because most people think it's weird when I say I'm an introvert, but I know I am. I'm just wondering if this is something a lot of us do, or if I just have a bad habit.

Oh yes. I don't think it's I unusual for any introvert to talk a lot around people they are comfortable with though.

Sometimes when I get this way I feel extraverted. I just spill out my thoughts without thinking it through, which can be very Se of me. I lack a filter when I'm in this mood.

As well I notice that I become the talker when someone struggles to come up with a conversation. I hate awkward silences, so I'll just fill the silence with chatter and humour to lighten them up.

Yeah, I can be the same way. Although, I'm not sure I talk as much as you, but I can still talk quite a bit.

My friend talks A LOT like you. We can easily talk for hours, but I listen more in that situation.

@firedell Ahhhh.... I know. Awkward silences are the worst. I feel like I know what I'm talking about when it's filling the void of an awkward silence, but I just need.... something--anything--there, bridging the awkwardness.

I might exaggerate a bit, but my friends do have difficulty accepting it when I say that I'm an introvert. Also, there are some people I listen more for. I have an ESFP friend, and she seems to do a fine job of leading a conversation without the need for my chattering, so with her I generally just let her take the lead.

I suppose I was just wondering if the phenomena was normal because a lot of descriptions claim that we're quiet, but I feel like that only describes the part people who don't know me see. But I've NEVER seen a description that mentions how bubbly, energetic, and excitable we can be when we're in comfortable company.

I am exactly like this when I am around people that make me feel comfortable. Without the filter I can be anywhere from unintentionally hilarious to unintentionally offensive. One of my biggest social challenges is learning to be tactful and deliberate with my words.
