I found out today that when I took the MBTI two years ago, I actually tested as an INFP. I went back and read through the characteristics of INFPs, and a majority of those characteristics apply to me as well (although I can see some obvious differences in some of the traits).

I've retested about 5 times since then, though, and I always get ISFJ. I'm just curious...did anyone else initially test as a different type?

I've never gotten to take the "official" test, just a bunch of random ones online. I have never actually tested as an ISFJ, always something similar (most commonly either ISTJ or ISFP). However, neither of those fit as perfectly as the ISFJ does. So I assume the inaccuracy is partially due to the testing medium and partially due to me answering questions on how i'd like to be rather than how i actually am.

I figured out my type by reading about the four preferences in the book 'Do What You Are', and not by taking a test (though I've since taken a few online ones, which further confirmed my type). At first, I thought that I was for sure an ISTJ, but then I read a description of ISFJ and found that it fit so much better. However, as I've learned more about personality types, I've realized that I'm probably something like 60/40 Feeling/Thinking, which explains my initial confusion.

I think it's interesting that you find many of the INFP characteristics to apply to you, because my mom is an INFP and sometimes we seem to be opposites :)

When my husband took some tests when I first learned about MBTI he got ESTJ, ENFP, ISTJ... Later I realised that he actually is an ISFJ. And there's no doubt about it regarding his cognitive functions.

I've only ever tested as an INFP/INFJ but I let the fine people of PerC type me and they decided on ISFJ. I relate to ISFJ pretty thoroughly, besides a high intuition.

I dont think ive ever got ISFJ on any test....ever.

The first was INTJ, then INFJ, then ENTP, then INFP, then INTP. Even now I never test ISFJ.

I've gotten INTP, second time INFP, but I'm without a doubt an ISFJ.

I tested as an ISTJ on this sites test page, but the three tests I took on OkCupid put me at ISFJ on all three of em. I Think for the most part I'm an ISxJ, I've just really never looked in the T part though.

ive gotten ISFJ every time ive tested. It kind of makes me feel good to have that consistancy, with ennaegram i kept getting different numbers and finally decided that 6 sounds the most like me out of the choices so i have a little less faith in that.
