I don't know if I have any legitimate phobias, but sometimes heights bother me. Snakes can bother me some too, but only in the wild. Clowns also scare me.

But I don't have to worry about being afraid of the dark, because my teddy bear is there to keep me safe at night

Thunderstorms are my #1 phobia. I would never move to a state that has thunderstorms regularly. Here in Maine, they're pretty tame, but a strong one comes up once in a while.

To a lesser degree, pets, especially dogs.

I used to be afraid of the dark. I had a nightlight until I was maybe 10 or 11.

    Interesting phobia.
    Which State has thunderstorms regularly?
    LOL....I'm afraid of cats more.
I had a nightlight when I was in elementary school too.

I used to be afraid of the dark when I was younger. I was broken of that when I went to spend the night at a friends house and asked him if he had a night light or if we could turn on the tv. He laughed at me and told me to get over it. From that night on I never needed a night light again. I was about 7 when that took place lol. If Im in the woods or something at night alone, I can get a bit scared but I think thats sorta normal. We arent conditioned for that anymore.

My only real phobia would probably be heights. Except Im only afraid of heights if I am on something I deem unsafe. Mainly equipment such as ladders or scissor lifts. I've been to the top of the empire state building and rode some pretty large roller coasters. All with ease.

    I own the night.

As a child I used to be, because at the time I grew up with so many influences in popular culture that messed with my head about night being the proper time for anything bad and evil to happen to, so I was always watching out for something, but I don't get intimidated by the night anymore, because I know that I shouldn't fear those conjured-up Hollywood visions.

    phobias:
Magpies.... due to a childhood incident involving a magpie and the middle of my forehead.
    - I freak when I hear the noise of wings, and when I cannot see there eyes, Im the one who will ducks whenever I hear the noise of their wings.

Dogs to a lesser and more recent extent that magpies, since one bit me a few weeks ago and the man who was walking the dog just kept on walking (slightly resentful of that mean man- and worried for the small children that may encounter that dog). I will go to the other side of the road if someone is walking a big dog.

I fear things, but only when they are justified,

My social fears are unjustified, When other people are involved it gets worse.

Fear of thunderstorms is called astraphobia. I felt a little better finding out that such a phobia existed. You can read about it here:

Astraphobia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I guess no states have thunderstorms *regularly*, but there are only about 15-20 per year in Maine. Florida has about 100 per year.

I'm afraid of failure. That's a big one for me... As far as physical fears, I'm afraid of walking alone in the dark. I'm afraid of weird noises in my house when I'm alone. When it gets really quiet and creepy. Like being at school really late and no one is there... I'm also not so much afraid of thunderstorms and rain but, really hard blowing wind.
    SCARY!!
