Have you ever seen through an N's eyes?

ok so i ahve been recently so interested in trying to find out waht goes on in the N's head. I think It's because they seem so relaxed and just go with the flow and i gues i have always been envious of that. I also was involved with a couple enfp's and we just spoke completely different languages. have you guys ever tried to understand them, like truely see where they come from? I have been looking into the differences and it is crazy! They don't look at details and live in this surreal life and just follow their instincts. its nuts. i kinda wish i was like that at times, but not always lol

It's a lot of fun and I wish everyone could do it. Hint: that was mostly sarcasm. N's love making jokes and going with the flow. Let things happen instead of make them happen.

I thought you INFJs wanted to implement your ideas like mad scientists? Actually that's technically INTJs, but you're similar to them :P

No, I think you may INFJ's confused with ENTP's, they're considered the "Mad Scientists" whereas INTJ's are sometimes referred to as the "Masterminds", haha! ENFJ's seem to have the reputation for being "cult leaders" although I have no idea why. But if you follow me, I can unlock the secrets of the Universe and for those who are interested, there will be door prizes, punch and pie, hehe.

Actually, we're very good friends with an INFJ, INTJ and ENTP, and they're lots of fun to be around and although we may have a few differences it's nothing that I can't handle. INFJ's are fairly quiet until you get to know them as my INFJ friend tends to be, but she is truly a wonderful, caring person; she's also very artistic, creative and although some people may view her as "odd", I think she's refreshingly unique because I can "feel" where she's coming from whereas others don't. Honestly, she's the furthest thing from a "mad scientist" that I can think of!

Our ENTP buddy is a lot of fun, a wise crack, very bright, can be direct, very forthcoming and some may think its abrupt but I appreciate his approach since he doesn't mince words, he calls it like he sees it. Naturally, he has his quirks but all of us do! Our INTJ friend is also very intelligent, keen, creative, has a good sense of humor, kindhearted (despite what you hear about INTJ's- don't stereotype!!) and if the truth be known, we have an easier time relaxing around her than I do my INFJ friend. I don't know why that is but it's the truth!

My husband is also an ENFJ and we have tons of fun like a couple of big kids, woo hoo! We can also pick up on each others moods and we know how the other is feeling since we share a lot in common.

I've only known two ISFJ's at work; both were very sweet, kind, funny with a practical joker/mischievious streak and I admired their ability to catch details that I tend to overlook simply because I'm looking at the big pile of work and how to "tackle it" all at once. Just another quirk I guess!

INFJ's will little by little change the way you think. Every single day I comment on how something was done poorly by someone else in the hopes that they listen and heed my advice. Most of the time they don't however. But to those we are closest to, we will often challenge them to be the "best" version of themselves. My motto is to be something more than you were yesterday. That way you never stop evolving and becoming something better.

I am similarly interested in S's. Sometimes I wish I could just enjoy the moment instead of thinking about seemingly random things. I carry a pocket sized notebook and pen with me EVERYWHERE because if I don't I will forget something. I'm not even kidding, often I'll remember something while showering and I have to get out and right it down or else I forget by the time I'm done (I take only 5-10 minute showers)

Actually, a lot of times I'll remember an hour or so down the road, but I'll only remember that I was supposed to remember something, not actually what it was lol XD

But I definately wouldn't want to be an S, not that I have anything against them, it's just I like being an N.

Any N's have similar forgetfulness problems?

I've been messing around with tests and reading up on MBTI a lot lately, and I'm actually currently testing with really close scores when it comes to N vs. S, so yeah, I think I can say that I do and can see through an N's eyes. I live with an N too, so I spend a lot of time sort of being forced to see things the way he does so that I can understand things he says. I would say that my preference is S, but due to life circumstances and whatnot and the craving to understand other people I've pushed myself into an N mentality to the point where I can decipher Ns and the world as they see it.

I would say that you can, based entirely on your writing, choice of words and the insights in them. To me, as a mad scientist who sees "the great context" everywhere, I normally find extreme S persons so narrow-minded and dull. If we say "coffee", S persons think/say " Coffe tastes good. mmmmmmm...." whereas I would think/say " I wonder where this fine coffee comes from? South america? Wonder if its Fair trade.... Wonder if (person next to me) chose to buy this Fair trade on purpose (and what does that say about this person)? Wonder if Fair trade really works and give the workers and local poppulation more of the earnings and help diminish poverty....Wonder if..."

Well, you get the point. And S persons find me .... well as a crazy, nutty professor... Or "totally outhtere"... or just a dreamer speaking of uninteresting things that seem tiresome. If I ever "let them in" and let them see "me" that is. Because they do not seem to care to analyze what is not obvious to them so most do not. I sometimes envy their life. "Ignorance is bliss" as they say in the movie "The Matrix"....;-)

GENERALISING here, and talking EXTREME S. And also, we ENTPs do not only ask the questions " what if": each question is answered in our minds and give a "grand picture" of how things are connected,. This occupies our thoughts a lot. But we also learn to do this subconsciously so we think lightning fast compared to many others.

Thanks for the agreement. It's good to know that I'm not being totally blind to myself. :)

I'm not surprised that you agree with me either - I know a lot of people here have suggested that I am more N than S, and the person I live with is usually entirely convinced that I'm not an SJ at all. I think that I'm lucky to have been forced into an N mentality, though I will not say that the methods were all to my liking. From what I've read, people are born with a personality type, but it can change due to circumstance and life situations. Regardless, people will still have strong ties to their original personality, but it can and will be overridden by things like stress, abuse, etc. My roommate and I have come to the conclusion that I'm much more willing to go with the flow because of my abusive childhood, even though I prefer to adhere to things like rules and schedules. Now that I'm away from my abuser, I'm a little more likely to stand my ground on the way I like things. My roommate still has a hard time believing that I'm an SJ though, because more often than not I am not argumentative, and I just go with things as they come, which is not really traditional of the SJ mentality. Honestly though, I do cringe inside when I have to bend against my grain... I've just been trained to do what I'm told, and I've found that it's easier and safer sometimes to just say yes to demands that you don't agree with, as sad as that may be.

I think that as my mentality smooths out and I relax more and get used to being myself as I want to be that I will probably slip more into an S mentality. I'm not sure though... life really is less stressful when things run smoothly.. and things don't run smoothly when you argue over petty things. :P

Well, I would say that the N part is probably quite high in you, Lady K, as you are here asking questions. That is probably why there are few SJs in the PC forums; they are out there cleaning houses and eating ice creams that tastes good or enjoying massages. T-ishness gives a certain calmness. And P is going with trhe flow. N seem to give "whole picture" and less detail oriented, less nagging. More dust in homes also...:-)

I would love to learn if you feel the other way ("coffee" from a S perspective so to speak).
