Hmm ... only thing I'm really sick of hearing about is Game of Thrones. That said, I'm sick of people who think that the author of those books is a literary genius. As for the TV show, since it's on HBO ... I assume a large part of the enjoyment factor for most men is the TPM (tits per minute) ratio.

There's a lot of character development, blood, gore, politics, backstabbing, mind bending, double crossing, and warrior / ego machoism at play. As the title goes "Game of Thrones"... you have all these people who wants to sit on a chair to claim reign over the world. Who wouldn't want to be a ruler?

Although there's tits and service, less than 10 minutes each episode... doesn't add much to the storyline either... negligible that they can omit it altogether.

The way the book was written is that each chapter hones in on a character and every other sub character that's currently interacting with them. It's one of the key elements that makes transitioning from the book to each 'scene' in the show seamlessly fluid with very little lost-in-translation.... albeit some parts where they rewrote and/or didn't have a actor to portray some character because they were omitted from the show than from the book.

And lastly, EVERYONE DIES. There's no single hero nor heroine. Everyones' expendable and can be sacrificed at any given moment. So the suspense in how they're picked off keeps the audience at bay.

The above is just my observation and opinion though, however.

    This can be anything...

    - Types of food
    - Drugs
    - Alcohol
    - Clothing
    - Brand Name products
    - Sports
    - Cars

Do you find yourself following the crowd (often / sometimes / never) or do you prefer thinking and acting for yourself?
My attention span/sensible memory has never been long enough/focused enough to follow any one. I am either completely oblivious to what is cool, or I knew for a moment or two and then I forgot. Whoops. Generally, my version of mainstreaming is trying really hard not to accidentally scare people. (Sigh.)

I sometimes follow the crowd because I'm either:

    a) completely oblivious to what's happening so I just tend to do whatever the person next to me's doing
    b) so nobody notices me

    - Dressing a certain way. Most people ( especially my family) expect me to dress conventionally( i.e., preppy and clean cut) and to look like everyone else, because according to their logic, not dressing normally means that something must be wrong with you. Not dressing 'normally' makes them erroneously assume that you are crazy. They think I'm crazy if I wear anything but sandals during the summer, or if I dress in the way that feels right to me. The perils of living in an extremely socially conservative community...

-People assuming that I'm boring because I don't get drunk every weekend. I find this infuriating. I get this from many people(from my cousins, from some of my acquaintances, and even from my mom) because since I'm in my early twenties, I should be having the time of my life getting trashed and being stupid. Granted, I do like going out and getting drunk very occasionally but most of the time that's not my thing. I prefer reading, writing or watching films in my free time. I also prefer hanging out with a few good friends and having a stimulating conversation. Why is this so hard for some people to understand eludes me.

-People liking facebook. I'm not against people who have a facebook( I have one myself), but I don't feel comfortable sharing every single aspect of my life to people, nor do I like being on it daily. Yet a lot of people expect me to have a facebook. I don't like that facebook resembles a strange popularity contest ( e.g. 'who has the most exciting life' contest. whoever has the most facebook friends and 'likes' is the winner!). I refuse to participate in that. Yet the first thing a person asks about me is whether I have a facebook. Gah.

-Liking chick flicks because I'm a girl. Don't get me started on this one.
