Heh, I got a dream about building a time machine and going back to the ancient times and building a civilization from scratch with modern technology. I'd take with me an expert in each field (Why does this remind me of the Noah's Arc story?)

• I have always wanted to do something bad to those who 'invented' religion and other such people.
• I wanted to take the best from each existing civilization and implement that into mine.
• Analyze future events and make changes accordingly.
• Have an army that would pwn any invaders.

Other stuff that I don't remember. Anyway, what would you do to make an ancient civilization that stands out?

Also, I wanted to go back to the future after building this civilization, and see how it has evolved in the future. If it already had modern technology to start with, what would it become in thousands of years?

Interesting idea. I would like to go back to the ancient civilizations to finally find out the truth about how they built things. Finally the truth about alien help will be known!

Ha, I have vacations going on. I don't like daytime all that much and hence, I tend to kill time by sleeping then. I need to get back on track though. I'll be moving to college soon enough. I can't afford to live like this in the college dorm!

You can still read, surf the interwebs, and talk on the phone in the morning. This is more of your personal preference to become a vampire I guess :P

Understanding something is entirely different than creating it yourself.
Creating a civilization is too much of a responsibility. I know myself well enough to know that I'd start off fine, get bored half way through and just abandon it. I guess you can say I've thought about it enough.

I much prefer to simply be a "Watcher". Observing and understanding, but not participating in anything.

I tried to establish an ant farm stronghold before.. but all they know is to eat, sleep, expand.... they didn't know how to build anything else other than an underground hive. No laser weapons, no telepathy enhancements, no telekinesis training, no higher brain functions...

Once I got to like 3 months in and a few hundred thousand ants, I forgot to seal the lid of the environment and they drowned because my makeshift farm walled off any potential outlets beyond the confines of their existing environment.

I suck at playing god even to a civilization of Ants so I gave up with planning world domination altogether.
