One way of thinking about it is that faith is a healthy reaction to a threatened attachment (in the Buddhist sense of the word). Remove the attachment, and you remove the need for faith. If you can liberate them from the attachment, then they will be more open to all of the possibilities out there, and I do believe that they will be happier.
This method is very intensive, and can only be done one-on-one, I think. There is a far greater diversity of faith than organized religion makes us think. Even two people who endorse exactly the same articles of faith can do so for radically different reasons. Effectively, each person has their own faith, and must be treated on an individual basis.
