INTPs with math experience: advice needed

A lab I might work with told me they would need me to do ordination and some multivariate statistical analyses on a big old data set.

I also need to learn BioPerl.

    Difficult? Boring? Please advise.

I have had wonderful experiences in Perl. As for your needs this, BioPerl
Programming whatever you need in it should be okay. Your VS is maxed out so should be easy for you.

As for everything else have no idea.

Yeah, I think I'll have to learn bioperl or biopython wherever I end up. I'm sure I can steal the hard work of others, as necessary.

Apparently R is used for the statistical stuff, in general.

BioPython > BioPearl. Based on Python > Pearl

R looks interesting, and easy. Unlike Haskell.

If you're going to get R, you may as well get R Commander to go with it. The GUI is quite nice to use, and you can still use scripts in it if you feel like it.
