    Alright, Alright. Who's Psychic?

I just wanna' know if psychic ability might be a personality thing, or just a personal thing.

And if you dare say, "Neither. You are full of hocus pocus, and oodles of noodles," I will likely tell you to f- off (but only as a knee-jerk reaction).

Afterwards, I will ask, "Well, then, Mr./ Miss Know-it-All, what the hell do you think intuition is? Spontaneous inspiration? "

Don't bother to answer that question. Because---yes, it is. I just wonder if one type is more likely to be a skilled "intuitive", compared to another XNXX. If you feel you can answer the latter, with confidence, then I would like to know wherefore you came up with your conclusion.

I suppose the title is somewhat misleading. Then again, feel free to share your psychic experiences, if you have any.

I know I'm psychic, to a degree. My intuition is an extremely predominant personality trait. I use it and trust it all the time.

    How about you?

    (**high fivin' the sky**)

I was (coughamcough) convinced I had learned very minor clairvoyance, I could guess very accurately what side a coin was going to land on given that I could see it while it was spun. Apparently I also would freak out camp councilors with card tricks...

Anyway, after a while I gave up on this assuming I was just deluded until I read a magazine article that stated otherwise, I would send it to you but I don't have the online subscription.

Anarchinektur...every, single time you say something, I think, "How can he be equal share of all three: flat, benign, and hilarious?"

I'm not getting any closer to understanding you, I'm afraid. The only thing I do know, is that you like it that way. But perhaps my gift has its limitations...

I laughed, by the way, in spite of myself. (Dammit! Why did you admit that?! Awwwww...people are supposed to take this seriously...)

As you started to allude to in your original post, being "psychic" is actually just a product of being extremely intuitive. Intuition, of course, is that flash of insight that allows you to make instantaneous extrapolations based on prior experience coupled with present circumstance. To be able to do this effectively, there has to be some level of predictability-- some kind of underlying order-- on which to make inferences. I am frequently told that I am an unpredictable person and that it is hard to tell what I will say or do, but you can be sure it probably isn't what you expect. That means I am predictably unpredictable.

Years ago I was on a ferry boat with friends, one of whom brought a deck of cards to pass the time. He'd have us guess the card he was holding. Apparently I was pretty good. I thought he was pulling my leg since he's an actor or doing a card trick, but then my other friend sat beside him watching and was equally shocked. Lord knows if there was money riding on it, I wouldn't be able to pull it off.

I can also think of a song or a person that reminds me of a song on my iPod and with the nearly 11k songs on it on shuffle, the next song that comes up will be that song. A friend says that it's not me being psychic, but that I'm willing it to happen. If I could will something to happen, I'd probably go for something more than song order.

I get lots of whatever it is that people say is "psychic". Idc what it is, it's inuition obviously, I think it depends on Ne and Ni. I get a lot of external psychic insights, but I have an entj friend who gets a lot of it, but mainly just about himself.

I also get "psychic" mostly about people. My said friend gets it more about action happenings.

Perhaps what counts as a psychic prediction/experience is mostly the result of very astute deductive reasoning (INTPs are good at this). Other times, it could be simply coincidences at work. It is strange how the human mind works. Perhaps we are too quick at times to dismiss instances when our intuitions turned out to be wrong and at others, too eager to fill in the blanks to support them.

The Power of Coincidence: Some Notes on "Psychic" Predictions

Coincidences occur in everyone's life. Some are trivial, like being dealt a flush in poker, but others really grab our attention, like thinking of a friend you have not seen in years only to have them call on the phone moments later. What these events have in common is our intense desire to explain them, a belief that there is a special reason things happen the way they do. These explanations can range from a lucky rabbit's foot to a psychic link with a friend. What most people do not know or do not want to believe is that coincidences, even remarkable ones, are not all that surprising. In fact most are inevitable occurrences with no special significance at all.

There are many simple reasons why most people misinterpret coincidences:

    • Humans have a poor innate grasp of probability.
    • We believe that all effects must have deliberate causes.
    • We do not understand the laws regarding truly large numbers.
    • We easily succumb to selective validation—the tendency to remember only positive correlations and forget the far more numerous misses.

EDIT: Arggh. I think I misread the op. Is psychic is an euphemism for intuition in this thread? Never mind. I think the article is pretty interesting anyway.
