I'd really prefer it if only yourself had access to your own ratio, and the name of the thankers wasn't shown.
It's a nice tool to induce both quality exigent posting (though a bit redundant for most INTPs) and limit variety, creativity and risk-taking.
And a passive way to "express" yourself ("I'm just going to thank someone who disagrees with this person instead of posting and explaining why").

We need more thank options :

    - I agree with you.
    - Fun post.
    - You posted the joke I thought of, I hate you and time zones too.
    - I'm Zombie Jesus trying to mess with your head.
    - I disagree with you but that was interesting.
    - Very smart and well-said, but you made a typo. I can't thank that thing.
    - Ho, so that's what this "Thank" button does.
Nomenclature, absentminded, ohTOMICho and 8 others thanked this post.

You'd be surprised how much shit I could have posted if I'd been a bit more quick pressing the submit button. The only thing I watch out for is to not repeat what others have said, particularly if I find a post that expresses something in a much more elequent way than I ever could. In that case I just thank. So I'm in the passive expression phase as Arusnem put it, in fact I've thanked more times than I've received.

As for the funny picture syndrome...guilty.

I would say you should refrain from making glib remarks if you want to get a high ratio. You don't have to stop yourself from posting, but don't post just to belabor the obvious; wait until you have something substantial and try and express it in the most succinct way possible. And if somebody already covered all your talking points and sufficiently expressed what it was you wanted to say, just give that guy a thumbs up for doing the work for you.
For a refutation of this, please see @absentminded's post regarding @pie's post:thank ratio.

Everyone in this thread should thank every post in this thread! Then not posting would be detrimental to your ratio!
Critix, darksoul, Arusnem and 2 others thanked this post.

haha, well just got a few then bringing me 1 for 1 exactly and now this post ... sigh ... tips the balance back into negative. I'm going to have to leave this forum for awhile, I just can't take the drama/pressure anymore.

P.S couldn't have done it without you (takes bow to applause)
darksoul and MiriMiriAru thanked this post.
