    Your Travelling Style

    So, I have from time to time been criticised by my wife for wanting do heaps of stuff when we go overseas. From my point of view, I've spent a buttload of money to get there, and I'm only there for like a week or two, I want to make the most of it. I can sleep when I get home. Her point of view is that it's a holiday, so it should be relaxing (though I could argue that doing heaps of stuff is relaxing).

    Anyway, what about you? Do you like to do alot, or very little? And does this cause problems with whoever you may be travelling with (if you travel alone... well, you're lucky)?

    I do not usually overload on clothing, but I like to be prepared for any situation. So my bag is usually full of random supplies. I really like to have things for unlikely situations. "Oh you just got stabbed? no problem, I have some alcohol, styptic powder, a needle and some Teflon thread. There... good as new.... So are you still up for that hike?"

    I agree with you. I've spent time and effort and money to get there and I don't know if and when I'll be returning so like you, I want to make the most of it. I want some time for relaxation too but mostly I want to have an experience that I can't get at home.

    Why don't you let her chill and you go on some of these adventures on your own?

    I always thought this could be a general NT thing, as me (INTJ) and my husband (ENTP) both love doing loads of stuff on holiday. We went to Mauritius on our honeymoon and while many of the other couples seemed content to stay in the hotel complex and sunbathe we were getting out every day. I don't go on holiday just for the weather, I go for the culture and general experience too. I'm more interested in seeing what the locals do than sitting on a beach all day every day (although that is nice to do sometimes).

    I'm in the middle. I love to do a lot and see a lot, but not so much that I can't ever relax. Every vacation I've ever been on with my family involves waking up at like 7 or 8 then not getting back in til 8 or 9 (or it would, if they had their way). I like to do and see things at my own pace, which is generally slower.

    I can't sit still during a holiday, I love to explore. I think it's important to do more than lie in the sun all day, as others have said if I have made the effort to get there I feel it would be wasted by just relaxing. What about a compromise and set aside time to do both?

    I have often travelled with a group of friends so those that want to, go out. Those that don't, find somewhere to relax and we meet up after that and do something together.

    - Relaxed => no hardcore backpacker style travelling.
    - Spontaneous => no real direction where I want to go.
    - Observant => I look more then I do.
    - Pensive => I think for example about what architecture style the buildings have or in a sociological way "what social class live in this area? ", etc.

    I like to sleep in very luxurious hotels, but it is not a must. I prefer to travel in a group, mostly with people who are interested in culture. I don't really like the nature, it is too calm and not stimulating enough.

    I like to do howeeeever much I want to do. I'll wake up at nine or ten, but then I haul tail and eventually get lost in whatever city I'm staying in.

    1. Deciding what to put in the luggage in the final 30 minutes before leaving for the airport[and as a result sometimes forgetting stuff].

    2. When I'm finally there I'm not overly eager to go out and see/do stuff [little to no pre-made plans], however I am much more likely to partake in such activities if the opportunity presents itself.
