Explaining Your Ideas, Thoughts and Jokes

I hate posting threads. And this is why...

I always get excited about an idea...

...but sometimes it is hard to explain to others just why it is so great. Or it turns out to be crap anyway. I then feel like some ENTP wannabe for having even bothered.

Also, I *like* being a bit cryptic. So sometimes I don't want to have to explain things in a really silly way to people, because I sort of think that they should try and make some effort on their part too. Is that too much to ask?

Even jokes I make can be convoluted, because they are sometimes more interesting that way. Even if I know they are going to be much *less* funny.

But then I'm also honest and open. So it is an odd counterbalance.

Anyway, I know that all this is probably a common set of INTP traits, having read many of our type-descriptions over the years, but...

I wanted to hear about your thoughts and experiences.

So, prove me right / prove me wrong / prove me to be tapioca. I don't care... I just wanted to hear your views, brothers & sisters!

Plus, the day that an INTP runs out of views or thoughts on a topic, will be a sad day indeed...

I wish that life was like a sitcom...you could make a joke or witty comment and know that it's funny and the laugh track would play in your head and everyone would just get on with it, without asking you to explain it, ruining your feeling of having made a clean, tidy funny.

That'd be awesome, but who are those bastards that distinguish between a gentle, "aaaawwww," a sexy cat-call, or hysterical laughter? Would this audience extension be inside the head or in the external world? Will the boring parts of our lives become filler and replaced with advertisements for the new Toyota or Condom?

    Rickie: 'Ay, honey, I'm home!!

    (Audience: Wooo!! **clap**)

Lucy: Rickie. I have something to say. My grandmother passed away.

    (Audience: HHAHAHAHHAHHA!!! OMG!! HAHAHA!)

Lucy: You son of a bitch. This is serious.

    (Audience: Oooooohh!!)

[Three hours later when Rickie's laying in bed, trying to sleep]

    (Audience: Oooooh. Ahhhhh. Oooooh. Ahhhh.)

Rickie: God. Shut deh fuck up. I trying to sleep!!

    (Audience: Wooooo!!)

I cannot count how many threads/posts I have typed up and then deleted at the last second. I just deleted a long thread last night. I think I delete these posts and threads before submitting them because I am not really comfortable with you people.

(I just deleted half of this post)

I do this a lot on facebook. I don't post on people's walls a lot so I try to always make my comments short and witty, not too awkward, and easily understandable. This is really hard for me for some reason and I end up spending 30 minutes editing the comment to make it seem like I wasn't trying too hard, basically trying to sound like an ENTP, Ne dominant. I did this last night actually...

I WANTED TO ASK THIS NEXT THING IN A THREAD TOO!!!
(But then it would have been a self-fulfilling thread! )

Should we make a thread to suggest new threads in -- cos as INTP's we could pre-judge the reaction and interest levels first!!!

It would be a sandbox-environment. And I love sandboxes.*

Or is that just another crap idea?

(*Except that the sand gets everywhere )

I have had 500+ word (magnificent IMHO) responses - then pressed refresh or forward or something just to lose the response. When this happens I usually say screw this and act like that thread doesn't exist.

I sometimes also worry about the content not fitting the general audience and end up with a delete or self-censorship often. The other side of this coin, I sometimes tell myself "meh, their problem not mine" and just press the post button. When this happens, I creep back into the thread biting my nails and wondering what can of worms I just opened.

A thread to think-tank other thread ideas? I don't know if it is a paradox or what but I like it.
