How important is traveling to you as an intp? Would you be mad at your significant other /frustrated if they were unable to travel with you?
I love traveling and being new places. I get bored in one place too much and have moved around quite a bit. It wouldn't be the end of the world if my SO couldn't go places with me, but I'd like to share the experience with someone if possible.
but if your SO was in financial turmoil would you continuously bring it up, because one of your other friends was doing so?
I ADORE TRAVELLING!!! I'M FRIGGIN OBSESSED WITH IT!! I have a tendency to get terribly depressed whenever I'm stuck in the same place for too long. and no, I would not be disappointed if my SO didn't get to travel along with me. That being said, I'm single right now, so that may affect my previous answer. TBH, my ideal mate would meat me in some foreign country and we fall in love and have an international relationship *sigh*
I enjoy travelling too (obviously?), as is seemingly stereotypical for INTPs, I enjoy and seek experience for their own sake and travelling is a good way to have them. A good question though, would be how/where do you travel? I generally try to go as low tech as possible cause simply being in another country provides you with little experience in itself. So for me it's mostly hostels, trains, bikes, hiking and some camping. I also like poor countries, but only in regions I'm interested in, mostly Asia these days.
About the SO, if I had a problem with her lack of enthusiasm for travelling we wouldn't be together to begin with. But generally I'm fairly accepting of others, until they step on a sore spot a few times too often that is. A tangent, is this kind of benevolent looking down on others just me, or common amongst INTPs?
Also, there is a good chance that I might prefer going alone anyway. Why? Because as I said in the beginning, traveling is about the experiences, and I might fear that having a companion along might dampen the intensity of those experiences. Anyone can relate?
@Virtokali, I can definitely relate. Whenever I look into places I'd like to go (see my previous post for why I don't actually go), I usually see myself their on my own. This may be partially due to the places I'm interested in are not really places my wife wants to go, eg. Iran, North Korea...
With the benevolent looking down, as you call it, I have experienced that too. Maybe someone should start a thread on that.
Am I the only INTP that doesn't like to travel???
Traveling to me is work and it wears me out. After traveling I need at least a week down time to recoop.
Ah, funny you should mention that. When the whole Lybia thing started, I seriously considered trying to become a journalist, just so I'd have an excuse and a means to visit places like that. Afghanistan, PR(N?)K, Iran, yeah, those would be phantastic places to experience!!
