    INTP & INFJ Relationship

    Hi all,

Can anyone share the pros and cons of this kind of pairing, for a romantic relationship?

I'm a female INFJ. Both of us had mistyped him wrongly as an INFP when he was caught in the highs of our initial relationship. Even though his first result he got was INTP, he was convinced he was more INFP. And so was I. But fast foward 8 months later. It's getting extremely clear he is INTP. In fact, there is no doubt about it, for him and for myself.

Is there any male INTP who is or has been in a relationship with an female INFJ? Would really appreciate any feedback and thoughts about it.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I can't respond to your question directly because I am a female INTP. I had an INFJ female friend for many years though. We were best friends for 14 years, and then it all went bad...really bad. INTP's and INFJ's can look really similar on the surface...even for years! They're both chameleons and can fool each other completely for a long, long time. But believe me, there are big differences that lie underneath. Just a friendly warning. P.S. I think "M'aimer pour qui je suis" should be "Aimez-moi pour qui je suis." French is kind of funny that way though. Just when you think you understand it, it pulls a fast one on you. I'm not trying to be rude in correcting you. I'd honestly like to be sure myself how to say it.

I have a female INFJ friend, whom I've conemplated dating many times. I mean, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, except morals vs logic, etc, but that's really only if you're a hardcore INFJ, and he's a hardcore INTP, which is almost never the case. Shades of grey.

I've dated a female INFJ. This is always mentioned as a good match.

In my case it didn't work out. She'd consistantly read meaning and intent in my actions were none existed. I'd explain myself, but when it happened again she'd trust her interpretation over my explanation, which wore me down, (Ni gone wrong?) Plus she was extremely jealous and got very erratic once the relationship started breaking down, and this only pushed me away more!

    That's just one case though.

Proud owner of a very successful male-INTP, female-INFJ relationship here.

Full disclosure: I've already been mentioned in your INFJ version of this thread.

I'm French. Aimez-moi pour qui je suis. = Love me for who I am. (imperative) M'aimer pour qui je suis. = To love me for who I am. (Infinitive)

Honestly, one of my closest friends is an INFJ. I've shared stuff with her that I've really never shared with others. I also trust her, which I've only done about one person before her. Though, she goes into the INTJ region 45% of the time, so maybe this answer is invalid.

Oh, of course that's right. I never thought that it might be saying "To love me for who I am." I just figured it was an imperative. Shows me. :P

I have a relatively close INTP friend (friend's for almost 3 years). We have arguments about random things quite regularly, very enjoyable when you're friends with the person. Never tried dating INTP/INTJ's...I can never see that relationship ending well.

Could the result of that be due to the fact you may have found him lacking of emotional capacity?
Apologies to question your findings but i don't see this is how you can type someone. Test don't show how the accuracy is and behaviour doesn't explain how your INXP is behaving.
However, if we're basing this on the fact that say, he's actually an INTP, then you shouldn't have much problems in communication. I'm sure the rest had pointed out this already. You might find his Ne enlightening. In fact, that's one of the best ways you can communicate, apart from your Ti. Plus you might enjoy his unexpected Fe.
