This is a discussion on 25 varieties of INTP's within the INTP Forum - The Thinkers forums, part of the NT's Temperament Forum- The Intellects category; Very very interesting....
Very very interesting.
NTIP-"the armchair general"
One of two pure rationals-this type likes to win. It will usually win long before playing the game, having created and perfected the gaming system.
Definitely relate to this over many of the other descriptions.
ITNP-"slow burn"
These annihilate their personalities with their razor brains, and can get into J/P spirals that can lead to madness and suicide.
Damn. I would get the worst one.
Razor Brains, complement or not?
It may be low, but its still there, it still functions.
The way i see it, Slow burn tells me is that we are prone to severe self flagellation. I usually chastise my self, physically for slight mistakes anytime i was doing calculus. Its gotten better, its now only verbal self abuse.
Well I would expect it if my J/P were closer to 50/50 or 40/60. My "P" function is usually 70% or so on most tests. :)
IPTN-"the stoner"
Stoned or not, this type uses themselves as the basic element in their fantasy world. Consequently, they tend to make very self-indulgent frameworks to inhabit.

Based on my percentages (depending on which test I take), these would be me. Kind of insulting...![]()

I am the Stoner and/or the Collector.
the PTIN collects ideas into a centerless framework. Stoned or not, this type uses themselves as the basic element in their fantasy world. Consequently, they tend to make very self-indulgent frameworks to inhabit.
Eh.
edit: ok, misread my percentage chart thingy in my signature. im actually supposed to be this:

though i can relate to all but 2 of the "I" dominant types

Am I the only one who finds this "25 varieties"-thing just nonsense?
I mean, the four letters in the MBTI test only indicate which cognitive functions that you use the most and are most developed. To begin making conclusions on small percentual differences in these letters (for example if my I is 62% and my P is just 55%) that are derived from a slightly unreliable test seems rather meaningless to me.
Also this ^
the descriptions of this myriad of varieties are so vague and flexible that you can recognize a dozen of them in yourself...
