I can't leave the argument misunderstood. People read your last post and think I contradict myself. I can't have that. I can't leave looking like a fool (even though it is inevitable since we spent 2 days arguing over hot sauce. lol! ;)
    I am sure you understand.
Besides, I am not so much tired of debating as I am just tired of talking about something so pointless for so long.

I gotta tell ya, I really enjoyed this debate over hot sauce because it's a nice change up from the existence of God, free-will, and capitalism/communism debates. You know what I am saying? It sort of spiced things up a bit around here.

Exactly. And it was a pretty hot debate - not too mild. You guys were on fire.

Lately I've been having trouble with some of my extroverted friends. I adore them to death, but they keep demanding more and more of my time. First of all, I'm in grad school, so I'm already busy as hell. If I tell them I don't have time to see them in person, they send me dozens of facebook messages, or emails, or text me constantly. Every conversation, even when I've seen them the day before, eventually goes to "So when do you want to hang out again?"

And they never want to hang out in a quiet spot at home, relaxing. If it's at home, there are 20 other people there. If it's out, we have to go to a bar or a club or something noisy and crowded. I do fine enough playing extroverted, but then I'm exhausted. The next day they want to do it all over again and I just can't keep up.

Ugggh I don't know what to do anymore. I've made up every excuse, even flat out told them I need space, and nothing. The same messages, every single day...

    My INTP Dad

Posting on behalf of my INTP father:

Disclaimer: Don't get me wrong here, I love my dad and we actually have a lot of fun together sometimes. These are just some things that I've observed on numerous occasions, plus some things that he has specifically pointed out.

    - Being corrected.
    - Being interupted in the middle of any task.
    - Having his work and/or intelligence go unnoticed or unappreciated.
    - Chick flicks.
    - Liberal politics.
    - Bad grammar.
    - Being forced to read, watch, or listen to something that does not interest him.
    - Conversations that have even the slightest emotional tone or content.
    - Power outages (a techie's worst nightmare).
    - Me getting any grades lower than a B. (Which does not happen very often, thank God!)

people who watch mindless television for hours on end
    reality tv shows
    drama tv shows
    competition tv shows
ok....just about anything on tv except for educational or yeah, if I need to kickback once in a while, a good movie....

when I don't get things done because I search for hours for answers to things online...ugh!

people who are people-magnets and are completely content with letting everyone else do their work...

for me, right now, it's people who are too cheerful or bubbly. i guess it's not so much pissing me off as annoying the bejesus out of me. :\

It's funny because everyone I am acquainted with at work and all think of me as a bubbly, friendly out-going person! I think I am bubbly because I have analyzed the situation and have come to the conclusion that if I am light, friendly and humorous, everyone's day (including mine!) will go by much faster and more pleasant...and it works!

BUT, I really am a very serious deep-thinker, analyze things to DEATH (sometimes thinking I might die in the process!! haha) and I really have decided that although I think I wish I had friends (I mean REAL friends, not all my coworkers who like me a lot, but for some reason have no desire to do things with me), I keep going back to the realization that maybe I really don't want friends after all...

It would be painful to go "shopping" or "lunching" or "bar-hopping" with people....it seems so shallow to me. I think what I'd REALLY like is to have a few other thinkers to sit down with and hash things out and come to some real conclusions about things I'm interested in.

So far...zip How do you find INTP's in your own locale? It's not like your going to find them around town at a social gathering, are you? I wouldn't want to go anyway...! :)

So, anyway, I am an INTP and yet I manage to be bubbly and cheerful in public situations and at home with my family most of the time, but I would think it disadvantageous to expose all the weighty things going inside my head to those I'm around....see?

I hate...I'm not sure how to generalize it into a specific concept yet.

Some of my Feeling friends jump down my throat when I say something that could possibly be perceived as insensitive toward some random, general group of people. I sort of hate hearing things like "Now remember, everyone's not as smart as you!" or "Yeah, but that's not as easy for everyone as it is for you!"

Believe me, I know when I've blurted something out that doesn't sound the way I meant it (I'm often curious about people's motives and modes of thought, but I'm never trying to deride anyone) and I know that the way I express myself can sometimes be clumsy. But I expect not to have to worry about that around my friends. >.<

I just...get so uncomfortable when people are angry at me, and I end up feeling ashamed because I didn't mean to do anything wrong.

If I say something like, "I'm not sure what wasn't to understand about my reading assignment in this one class" then I'm genuinely curious what parts of it people might have found difficult (for the record, I'm talking to a friend who's not in the class). If this is rude, I'd prefer a gentle reminder that it's too rude to talk about to an indignant defense of these unnamed classmates I'm supposedly insulting.

Does anyone sort of follow what I'm trying to say? It's just jarring that some Feelers can be such...public defenders all the time. >.<
