Why are gery eyes linked with intelligence?

So, I've taken alot of quizzes on what my true eye color should be. I don't really buy into the whole "you look like this type of personality", but it does seem that certain colors are related to certain traits.

So, why is grey intelligent and coldly logical? Is it that Sherlock Holmes had an impact on this as he had grey eyes [well in the books haha]? Or was it that Conan Doyle deliberatly used grey to symbolize Sherlock's reasoning and logical sense?

    Your thoughts?

Have no clue. Maybe because grey eyes aren't really common therefore have more mystery surrounding those with that color? It could possibly come from the Greek Goddess Athena as one of her titles was "Grey-eyed" and she represented rationality & intelligent.

On a side unrelated note, I have grey eyes :D.

I can honestly say that i've never heard of this connection between the two before. Huh.

Grey makes me think of... neutrality. Objectivity. Being devoid of passion -- stuff that could detract from logical thought. But then again you could say the same for black o_o

My eyes are hazel, and people who dont know that have seen my eyes go from a grey-ish blue all the way to brown.

It's a nonsense. Not least because only certain races have grey eyes, and I wouldn't like to hear it suggested that some races are more intelligent than others, especially the grey-eyed ones. That has been done and in general it didn't go down well.

the colour itself is associate with intelligence, but honestly i dunno how would that actually work with human... you see in many communities of the world, having light coloured (anything lighter than dark brown, like me) eys is consider to be a nutjob (unless you are white), so haveing a grey-eyes might not be a sweetest thing on earth..

This topic got me curious about the identical light blue eyes my siblings and I all have. I decided to put my photography skills to work to see exactly what shade of blue it is, in an excessive and needlessly scientific and objective manner.

Lo and behold, after setting up the studio flashes and umbrellas to fully light our faces, sticking a standard 18% grey card next to our faces in turn, staring into a desk lamp to close down our pupils, calibrating the photos' levels in photoshop with the grey card, checking the RGB values of our eyes, and putting up with snide comments from the siblings about my undeniable OCD-ness, it turns out that we've actually all got grey eyes. Like I said; OCD. But I believe in precision.

My iris can double as a grey card! From a camera nut's standpoint, this is really freakin' awesome. I feel so special and warm and fuzzy now.
