Do you believe in the concept of 'souls'?

Do you believe in the concept of 'souls'? If you do, what age do you think your soul is? I think that I do believe in souls and the thought came to mind: Would souls of the same age have the different personality, do souls of the same age have different personalities, or are souls personalities all the same and human are the ones with the differing personalities?

Well, my answers depend on what you mean by "souls."
If you refer to a kind of supernatural wisp of energy that is independent of my body, but acts as its supervisor, then no.

However, if you refer to the abstract collection of subjective experiences, past and present, that make up one's "mind," then yes of course I do.
Along this mode of thought, I would say that souls do not have ages based upon how long they have existed, but by the quantity and quality of their experiences.

I don't believe in 'souls.' I believe that the mind is all there is.

Before replying, I would like to know what your definition of a soul is. Can you give a definition?

    This is my stance too.

I cannot prove it or disprove it. I would like to believe so, though. It is highly unlikely, I will give you that.

I have had some rather strange experiences in my life. Experiences which when analysed leave me leaning towards the side of yes. When it comes right down to it though, I don't and may never know. Age of souls? Again, I don't know.

No, I do not believe in souls, which is just another invention of the religious to help them cope with their deeply rooted fear of death. There is no evidence as of yet that indicates that any part of us lives on after death, and I personally cannot comprehend a scenario where some "soul" pops out of a recently deceased being and goes off somewhere.

I don't believe in anything beyond the mind - i.e. the physical. Everything is explainable without this concept. It's simple Occam's razor. That's why I don't believe in existence of souls. That would be such harsh anthropocentrism it's unbearable and just silly. What, are we special? We aren't the biggest, the fastest, the most adaptable. We don't have fangs, we can't fly, have no poison, no ghylls. We're only more intelligent. That doesn't mean we'll stay as a dominant species here (I'm thinking of Abrahamic religions as I am typing this.) Why would just us, humans have a "soul" and go to a happy place and live forever? We're 99,4% monkeys, for Pete's sake! Where do we draw a line? Did Homines Neandethalenses have souls? They were humans, after all. The whole concept sounds just too redundant, made up to explain all the processes in our brains, cognition and our understanding of the world. It was 6k years ago, and now we know better.

If we do, then they must have had seeing as they were genetically close enough to interbreed with humans as recent studies have shown.
