    INTP Villians list

Because it seems so rare for INTPs to villains I figured we might as well have a list for the few that are. Thanks to
ZPowers and Speed Gavroche from another forum.

    Bill from Kill Bill:

Is reclusive and works in the shadows, has a lot of Ne especially when he is talking about superheros in Kill Bill: Part 2. Spends his time with intellectual pursuits like inventing a truth serum.

    Roger "Verbal" Kint (Keyser Soze)
    from The Usual Suspects:

Is it still a spoiler if the film's been out for almost a decade (and basically defined by the spoiler)? At any rate, Kint aka Keyser Soze is a clear INTP when he gives the story to the detective. It's possible that, like his crippled leg, it was all just an act and he's actually an INTJ or whatever but from what we can tell he came off as very INTP.

Scarecrow from Dark Knight Batman series:

His only motivation is to understand fear and has no interest in money, power, revenge etc. Also his character has a lot of Ti like when Rachel remarks how it's convenient that his client is suddenly crazy and he responds with something like "well as you can see it's never convenient to have a mental breakdown."

Wow, I didn't expect it to be so hard to think of INTP villains.

All I could think of were

    The Architect from the matrix,
Itachi from Naruto, although he becomes kinda Feely later on,
and L from Deathnote, while not necessarily evil he is the antagonist technically.

INTP villain says, "I'd kill you but I'm too lazy. Maybe tomorrow.".

Yeah and even when there are villains that "act" like INTPs, they're usually not portrayed as such.

Someone in another forum pointed out that the Architect from the Matrix "acts" like an INTP in that all he does is sit around and code and use big words but the actor portrays him as something like an ENTJ in that he's extremely fast and aggressive in the way he talks (which doesn't make sense, given that his role is to sit and around and think 24/7).

The biggest problem with INTP villains is that INTPs are the ultimate "Informing" type vs Directive. We provide information, clarify parameters, vet processes, etc. That's what we LIKE to do.

An INTP might become a villain by choosing to build a really cool Rube Goldberg deathtrap dungeon, but it's typically inconsequential whether or not anyone ever goes and dies in it. In fact, even building it is rather pointless; it's the design of it that matters. Someone else can implement.

If INTPs contributed to the Nazi war effort, we likely just designed the processes and machines abused by them, rather than actually implementing them or directing them to be used as such.

For a probable "good" counterpart in movies, there's the architect (Andrews) in Cameron's "Titanic," who designed the ship. Gentle soul, considerate of others but prefers to be non-intrusive, thinks of the things most people miss (including ramifications of events upon the ship's structure), very very aware of the entire ship and what it can or cannot do. Not sure how to change that to "evil." I think detachment makes it hard for someone to purposefully evil; INTPs typically don't care to actually be evil, it takes planning and energy.

The Architect talks like an INTP might talk, but he behaves like an ETJ and I think that is his dominant quality. (Which makes sense; the Oracle is pretty clearly an NFJ, and they play counter roles to each other.)

Can you really imagine an INTP looking so immaculately dressed... and while wearing white? Seriously, though, the Architect doesn't allow for any of the flex/chaos that INTPs try to incorporate into theorizing.

Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men:

ANTON CHIGURH: And you know what's going to happen now. You should admit your situation. There would be more dignity in it.
CARSON WELLS: You go to hell.
ANTON CHIGURH: [Chuckles] Alright. Let me ask you something. If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?
CARSON WELLS: Do you have any idea how crazy you are?
ANTON CHIGURH: You mean the nature of this conversation?
CARSON WELLS: I mean the nature of you.
