    The Thinking Intensive

People over the years have commented on over-analysis and thinking too much; how much energy this consumes.

I am not saying that too much thinking is necessarily good for the rest of the body, however it doesn't seem to consume much energy. Pure Ti is quite simple. It may actually contribute to the generation of energy. It seems as if it's only when Ti is tied to other functions in certain circumstances where it can start feeling weighty.

    What's your thinking energy like?

People are emotional beings. Most of them can't think clearly and detach like we INTPs so easily can. So they actually emotionally exhaust themselves.

And for some people the logical parts of the brain ain't really ''online'' often, so when you force them to turn them on it's an exhausting experience.

Ti is not simple, it's simple for dominant Ti users. Same as lifting weights is easy for a body builder.

@Entr0py is right. To do what you guys do for leisure and fun, I have to sit down and concentrate. It's a great exercise to get me out of my comfort zone, but it gets tiring very quickly.

When I arrange to meet my INTP friend for lunch or hanging out, I try to make sure that I have enough rest and energy to keep up with him. Otherwise, I'm even more behind his train of thought than usual and I'm pretty sure he already slows down his explanations for me.

I theorize that it is analogous to when people say that you guys don't feel emotionally often enough. You are capable of doing it; it's just exhausting.

I agree. It's very instinctive and natural, we just "let nature take its course" when we think. Other people, depending on how they normally process stuff, have to fight very hard to persist in that style of interaction and processing.

It's no different for us when we are forced to externalize a lot -- such as having to deal with a lot of sensory stimulation without any let up, or if we would be forced to navigate through complex social situations without being allowed to simply withdraw or say, "Screw this, this is stupid." The Fe'ers do all that kind of thing very naturally, without much effort, in contrast.

    (and so on)

Thinking has a restorative energizing effect on me providing it's elective and something I'm intrigued with. Hours fly by like minutes when I'm in the zone and the rest of the world ceases to exist.

When people say, "You think to much," what they really mean is, "You misappropriate your mental energy to methods of thinking that are unlike my own." It's an expression born out of ignorance.

    "You think too much"
    "Go away, stupid"
    "Ass."
"Wait, I wanted to be friends..." :(

Ti refreshes me a lot when I feel exhausted after socialization. It feels the best when I lay down in bed and stop all body movement and let all my blood flow into my brain. I usually do this for an hour or so and then I fall asleep and then my subconscious takes over and processes all the thoughts I had previously. And by the time I wake up all that blood went somewhere naughty! Sometimes I wake up in a euphoric state because I've reached a light bulb moment of clarity somehow. Those moments are very rare but its wonderful when it happens. It's as if you didn't do any work and just fed your brain some information and it automatically punched out a solution for you for breakfast.

With the right setting, I don't tire myself out on thinking sprees. Especially, if it's a subject I'm genuinely curious about.

However, I can't see myself focus on my thinking very well with a loud crowded surrounding. I subconsciously take in so much information in all at once I can't even think straight. Too much of everything all at once makes me feel so drained. During big parties, I'm often left to make strategies to escape and collect my thoughts. Oh the effects of high introversion.

Just give me a quiet place and an intriguing book or article. I'll most likely think about it for hours.

The use of Ti in analysing and inspecting information I've collected tends to give me security.

For example, I might reflect upon specific things that has happened during the day and come up with possible explainations for those behaviours/occurences. Then I'd think about how I'm going to solve it when such situations arises again.

Unfortunately, this process of preperation and recollecting myself is something that I can only do alone. But such a high focus and the depth of these thoughts tend to recharge me the most. Time passes the fastest when I'm doing that!
